Fujifilm X-Pro1 mirrorless camera review

The Fujifilm X-Pro1, the company’s previous “flagship,” pales in comparison to the X-T1. Moreover, the design and control system of this also professional-oriented model, previously overshadowed by the originality of technical solutions, have become more noticeable. And yet it is still a camera that is fun to operate, that produces beautiful images and that is original in design and construction. It’s also important that it is much more attractive in price than the older model in the range.

Unlike the X-T1, which replicates film SLRs, the X-Pro1 replicates rangefinder cameras. Perhaps the most important feature of the camera is its unique hybrid viewfinder. By using the design of a classical eyepiece with a bright frame and replacing the light window with an LCD panel, the developers were able to achieve the display of a variety of service information directly in the window of the parallax viewfinder. In practice, when using lenses with different angles of view, the composition of the frame or the choice of the sharpening area can cause some problems with the accuracy of the framing and the selection of that very area. And that’s where the digital viewfinder mode comes in, allowing you to project into the same eyepiece image with 100% frame coverage.

Thanks to the advanced hardware control system, the model makes shooting in manual mode interesting and fast enough. Fans looking for easy, no-nonsense photography won’t want to pay much attention to the X-Pro1. There are no “smart” automatons, scene modes and funny digital filters. The only artistic transformation of images by means of the camera is possible only through the functions of color imitation proprietary films and turning full-color shots into monochrome with a different distribution of tones.

If you know how to squeeze very high results out of a camera. The special sensor with the proprietary pattern of color filters and without low-pass filter, accurate signal transmission and digitization, effective processing of graphic information by the productive processor also contribute to this.
