Casio Exilim EX-ZR300 compact digital camera review

Casio company seems not only to have temporarily left the markets, but also left the development of photographic equipment. A long period of stagnation is now reflected in the novelties of the once popular brand: in terms of features the devices do not look out of the “second echelon”, and the most attractive features are the legacy of former technological advances. The Exilim EX-ZR300 shows this clearly and vividly.

Functional and modern at the time of the birth of the series in 2012 is not much different from the “ancient” predecessors. Meanwhile 12x zoom is the lot of slim compacts these days. Travel cameras have long since zoomed to 20x magnification. With other electronics the unit was luckier: the starting point was so good that it still looks very decent. The camera has a 16-megapixel sensor, a 461k resolution display, and a 12.8k resolution screen. Dots, high-speed shooting, Full HD video recording and a few additional nice features. For example, getting ready for work in less than a second, or determining the focus zone and focusing in 0.12 seconds. The Exilim ZR300’s battery life score still looks amazing. With a full battery charge, the camera is capable of shooting up to 500 frames – this is the most common thing for Casio equipment, while other manufacturers have not come close to these numbers in a couple of years of development.

The best thing about the EX-ZR300 has nothing to do with the consumer qualities of the device. The good thing is that Casio seems to be back on track, has started making cameras again, and these cameras look relatively good. Does it make sense to buy the ZR300?? There is. But you should also definitely consider the competition: there are more capable and advanced cameras among the novelties of other brands.
