Mini review of the Casio Exilim EX-100 compact camera

The appearance of the model range of the company, which a few years ago publicly stated that it has no ambitions to compete in the photographic market, the camera, which competes in all respects with older compacts from leading manufacturers, surprising. The EX-100, whichever way you look at it, is a very serious bid for the attention of keen amateurs.

A compact with a large sensor, the possibility of manual control, supports shooting in RAW, equipped with a tenfold zoom with a constant aperture of F2.8. Shooting in low light conditions is aided by 5-axis optical stabilization and a very high range of light sensitivity.

The EX-100 has the largest display of its class, with a decent resolution. To control the device, among other things, the lens has a ring to set the parameter values, which you can select with the Ring key on the back. This solution is not original, but it is no less effective. There is an interesting EX finder interface for rapid shooting in manual and priority modes. It has all the main parameters arranged along the borders of the screen as scales. The current value is highlighted by graphical marks, each of which can be moved with a separate scroll wheel or navigation key. The camera is equipped with two shutter buttons, one of which is located in its usual place, next to the zoom lever, and the second – under the lens: according to the developers plan, it is useful for shutter release in portrait orientation and when shooting self-portraits.

The EX-100 can shoot at 30 fps at full resolution and also records high-speed video at 1000 fps – a trademark feature of Exilim senior cameras. A dual core processor with two graphics sub processors and large high speed memory buffer provide a variety of pre-recording modes, making it easier to catch the right moment in the frame. And of course, for starters, it’s worth mentioning the built-in Wi-Fi. We can only hope that the camera will get to our market, because the currently presented assortment of Casio cameras is discouraging.
