Casio Exilim EX-ZR100 compact camera has continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second

Quite mysterious is the logic according to which a typical “tourist” compact with a decent zoom, referred to the company’s family of high-speed cameras Exilim F, gets an index of the third family Exilim Zoom, which does not imply just a particularly long zoom or outstanding speed characteristics. However, it’s understandable that the EX-ZR100 is so versatile, it could easily be assigned to any existing class. Except for the security cameras.

Externally, the device looks like the Exilim EX-H30’s twin brother, and is equipped with exactly the same 24-300 mm lens, 3-inch display and 461 thousand. dots and identical layout of controls.

And then the essential differences begin. Instead of the usual CCD, the EX-ZR100 is equipped with a high-sensitivity and high-speed 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, as well as the proprietary high-speed Exilim Engine HS, which are the key capabilities of the camera. First of all, they include continuous shooting at up to 40 fps – in this mode, the device creates 30 10-megapixel images in less than a second!

Next comes Full HD video recording with stereo sound and the ability to simultaneously, without interrupting the recording, save and still images in high resolution. Finally, the multiframe superzoom and HDR high dynamic range features are very interesting.

The first – an evolution of proprietary technology SR Zoom, only now the automation is not just imaginary expands the zoom range, but uses a complex scheme with the capture of many frames to form a single enlarged image with high detail – it turns out that the camera is equipped with up to 25x zoom without much loss of quality at that.

HDR Image Processing uses high-speed shooting to get a multi-frame exposure, and then combines that data into compelling high-contrast photos with rich gray-scale detail.

There is one more pleasant moment for experienced amateur photographers. Besides advanced automation and a variety of special shooting modes, the EX-ZR100 offers quite conventional manual control, which in many situations is still better and more reliable than the smartest electronics.

Miracles with the autonomy, as its twin EX-H30, this camera does not show, though it shoots as many as 450 shots on a single battery charge.

The Casio Exilim EX-ZR100 compact camera seems to have an impressive continuous shooting feature, capable of capturing up to 40 frames per second. However, does this fast shooting rate compromise the overall image quality? How does it handle movement and maintain focus in such high-speed shooting? I’d love to know more about the camera’s capabilities in this aspect.
