Canon wins five TIPA awards for 2016

New York, America, April 20, 2016. Canon has announced that it has won five awards from the Photographic Magazine Publishers Association TIPA , one of the world’s leading associations for photography and photojournalism. The TIPA Awards recognize the most outstanding imaging products introduced in the previous 12 months. In 2016, Canon has once again earned recognition for its technological innovations across the full range of its products – from compact amateur models for beginners to professional digital cameras and photo printers.

• Best easy compact camera: The IXUS 285 HS

• Best photo printer: image PROGRAF PRO-1000

The TIPA jury includes editors from 27 of the world’s leading photography and imaging magazines, representing 15 countries on five continents. A panel of judges meets each year to evaluate new products and technologies based on a range of criteria, from innovation to design to overall quality, and then selects and celebrates the best. When awarding Canon products, the TIPA jury cited the following descriptions.

Best Professional Digital Camera:

EOS 5DS R

Built in the Canon EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R full-frame CMOS sensor 50,6 Mpix with low-pass filter effect neutralization technology supports resolution not lower than in “medium format” digital cameras, and new models are capable of shooting stills up to 5 frames per second and shooting video in Full HD 1080p at 30 frames per second. The cameras feature two DIGIC 6 image processors and one of Canon’s latest developments, the Mirror Vibration Control System. Featuring a miniature motor and cams instead of traditional springs, it lets you delay the shutter even further, effectively stopping camera shake. Also worth mentioning is the 3.2-inch Clear View II LCD screen, with 1.04 million dots of resolution and close to 100% coverage, and the RGB-IR exposure metering sensor with 150,000 pixels. EOS-1D X Mark II

Equipped with a new 35mm 20.2 Mpix full frame CMOS sensor, the EOS-1D X Mark II offers continuous shooting at up to 14 frames per second and 16 frames per second in Live View mode. Dual DIGIC 6+ image processors enable high-speed recording of up to 170 RAW images and unlimited JPEG images in a single burst. The camera also shoots 4K 60p and Full HD 120p video, using Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. Optional wireless transmitter offers support for the new IEEE 802.0802 high-speed connection standard.11ac. Improved focusing speed and precision through an enhanced 61-point autofocus system in the viewfinder and an improved predictive AI Servo II algorithm+.

IXUS 285 HS

Despite their pocket-sized size, Canon compact cameras traditionally offer all the familiar photo and video functions, while offering more features and better image quality than mobile cameras. The IXUS 285 HS has a 3-inch LCD monitor and a 12x optical zoom lens with built-in optical image stabilizer. PowerShot G5 X

G5 X is a 20.2 megapixel camera equipped with a high-sensitivity type 1 CMOS sensor.0 and DIGIC 6 processor, which supports shooting at around 6 frames per second and Full HD video. The built-in 24-100mm lens 35mm equivalent has a maximum aperture of f/1.8, which drops to just f/2 at telephoto.8. The lens is equipped with a 9-blade aperture and supports a minimum focus distance of about 5 cm. 2.36 million-dot resolution EVF provides 100% frame coverage with up to 120fps refresh rate. Prints on wide sheets up to 43 cm and uses LUCIA PRO 11-colour inks with Chroma Optimizer technology. FINE printhead with tube ink supply system provides increased print speed and consistently high quality. The printer uses a new Photo Black ink formula, with Photo and Matte black inks fed through separate channels, so no need to change ink when changing paper. Vacuum paper feed system presses sheets during printing, thereby ensuring greater accuracy of image or text regardless of paper weight or type.
