Best Professional DSLR Camera nomination: Canon EOS-1D X

Canon’s new advanced professional DSLR camera combines the advantages of a full-frame image sensor with the high speed and high sensitivity needed for news, sports and wildlife photographers.

An 18-megapixel CMOS image sensor and two DIGIC 5+ processors enable the EOS-1D X to strike the perfect balance between image quality and shooting speeds of up to 14 frames per second. Standard ISO range of 100-51,200, expandable to 50 and 204,800.

New 61 point AF system with 41 central crosshair sensors – fastest and most accurate of its kind. It allows the camera to detect and track fast-moving subjects, even in low-light conditions. Full-HD video capture and a built-in Ethernet port complete the offering for this professional model.

Best Expert Level Compact Camera nomination: Canon PowerShot G1 X

Image quality is often associated with interchangeable lenses, but in reality, the two are not necessarily linked.

The PowerShot G1 X has a large 14.3 megapixel 4:3 CMOS sensor 18.7mm x 14mm , similar in size to the APS-C sized sensors used in EOS DSLRs. The result is a compact camera that delivers great image quality even in low light.

Best Lens for Professional Digital SLR Camera: Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L USM fisheye

Fisheye lenses allow photographers to capture dramatic images from extreme angles . Canon EF 8-15mm mounted on a camera with a full-frame image sensor 24mm x 36mm for both full-frame and fisheye round shots.

Smaller sensor size makes it possible to cover the entire frame. 180-degree field of view for exceptional creative shooting. Canon’s high-end L-series lenses offer exceptional optical technology, quality and reliability.

Patented Subwavelength Structure Coating SWC eliminates glare and stray reflections, while an additional fluorin coating makes the large front element easy to clean.
