Whirlpool wins 9 innovation awards at CES-2016

LAS VEGAS, January 2016.- Whirlpool brand wins nine innovation awards at International Home Appliance Show CES 2016 for seven new kitchen and laundry appliances. Award winners include the Whirlpool® Smart Top Load Washer and Dryer, Whirlpool® Closet Depth washer and dryer and HybridCare™ front-loading washer and dryer, Whirlpool® Smart Dishwasher, Whirlpool® Smart French Door floor-standing refrigerator, Whirlpool® 6 combination built-in oven.4 Cu. Ft. Combination Wall Oven in volume 6.4 cubic feet, Whirlpool® Smart Front Control Range gas stove and Whirlpool® French Door floor-standing refrigerator. Awarded for outstanding design and technical solutions in the most modern appliances in 28 categories. The awards were decided by a distinguished panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and industry media.

The company’s seven consumer-focused products have won awards in the Appliances for a Better World, Eco-design and Eco-friendly Technology, Smart Home and Home Appliances categories.

• Whirlpool® Smart Top Load Washer with vertical load uses technology to make charitable donations. Through the Connect to care™ program, appliances can connect to the network to make an automatic donation to Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization, with every wash cycle. As one of the first appliance brands to announce the use of the Amazon Dash Replenishment app, these washers and dryers estimate the amount of laundry detergent during program selection and pump it automatically. This smart washer and dryer is also paired with the Nest Learning Thermostat™. So, when the Nest application software interface is set to “Out of the House” mode, the dryer can switch to Eco Mode to save energy through a longer, more energy-efficient cycle. With notifications made possible by the Whirlpool® mobile app, consumers are notified of the progress of the wash or dry cycle and when the load is complete, avoiding clothes not fitting after the wash or drying period.

“Eco-design” and “Eco-friendly technology.”

• The Whirlpool® Closet Depth washer and HybridCare™ front-loading dryer boast an eco-friendly design that saves space and energy.HybridCare™ dryer combines both heat pump and non-vented technology to solve major problems when it comes to dryers – energy consumption, being gentle on specialty clothes and finding the right place to vent. This vent-free technology gives families the ability to install laundry appliances anywhere in the home at their discretion, not limited to those locations where they can provide ventilation. Designed to fit in a closet of a certain depth, the units can be hidden behind closed doors so families can get exceptional fabric care with increased productivity and more installation options. By applying eco-drying settings, the dryer uses 73 percent less energy, helping families take care of the planet and save on energy bills. The innovative Load & Go™ detergent system in the front-loading washer lets you load enough detergent for about 12 loads of laundry, so families don’t have to worry about popping in powder every time they wash.

“Smart Home” and “Home Appliances”

• The Whirlpool® Smart Dishwasher allows families to automatically order detergent through the Amazon Dash Replenishment app. With purposeful technology built into every new function, consumers can delay the start of the cycle and start the machine in Quiet Mode so that it runs while everyone is asleep. The dishwasher can be programmed to automatically start a wash cycle when the Nest application programming interface is set to “Out of the House” mode. Consumers can also program to receive notifications that alert them when the cycle is complete.

• The Whirlpool® Smart French Door floor-standing refrigerator is connected to the Nest application software interface so busy families have complete control.With new technology that helps families stay organized at times when their schedule is busier than ever, the Smart French Door floor-standing refrigerator allows families to use the Whirlpool® mobile app to activate party mode to trigger faster ice production and lower temperatures to prevent rising temperatures due to frequent opening and closing of the refrigerator while guests are home. The refrigerator also uses smart notifications to alert families if the power goes out or the Wi-Fi signal disappears, so they can immediately check the food in the fridge.

• Whirlpool® 6 combination built-in oven.4 Cu. Ft. Combination Wall Oven 6.4 cubic feet minimizes steps, reduces cooking time and eliminates the work of home cooks at random.CookCoach™ system with digital thermometer measures food temperature and tells home cooks when everything is ready. And with the convection conversion feature, it’s easy to shorten cooking times, and there’s no need for complicated temperature and time calculations. Consumers choose from baking, roasting, baking, microwave cooking or a combination of these methods, and the Whirlpool® combination built-in oven does the rest for you.

• Whirlpool® Smart Front Control Range gas stove informs families when it’s ready while cooking.With notifications activated through the Whirlpool® mobile app, family cooks know exactly when preheating is complete and when cooking time is over, which frees them from having to constantly monitor the oven and gives them time to clean or finish laying the table. It actually helps guide the cooking process – users can send step-by-step cooking instructions directly to their cooktop and it will program the appliance to follow them automatically. When the Nest application software interface is set to “Out of the House,” users are alerted via the Whirlpool® mobile app if their stove is on.

• The Whirlpool® French Door floor-standing refrigerator features a unique shelf layout system to accommodate and locate all the family’s favorite foods, making it the most convenient refrigerator when it comes to organizing its interior space. Completely and intuitively redesigned inside, the buffet-inspired layout is designed to make better use of space, with divided containers for families to store and display their food cravings. The efficient layout allows for more storage as it was conceived to accommodate the most commonly purchased foods, large, tall, small, shallow and wide, including 1-gallon milk cans, corked wine bottles, one-liter bottles of sparkling water, glass jars of spaghetti sauce, glass jars of pickles and small jars of mustard and jams.
