It was announced last week that Canon is planning to release a new premium compact camera, the PowerShot SX740 HS. This time its first specifications and image have been made publicly available, and the announcement of the camera itself is expected in the coming days.
According to the image, the appearance of the new camera will be identical to the existing 730. The 40x optical zoom lens and the sensor, which will get a resolution of 20.3MP. The camera will also have a tiltable screen that can be tilted 180 degrees for taking selfies.
However, the camera’s performance will improve markedly thanks to a newer-generation DIGIC 8 processor. The PowerShot SX740 HS will have improved autofocus, the camera will get the ability to shoot 4K video, and the continuous shooting speed will increase to 7.4 fps vs. 5.9 fps on the PowerShot SX730. From past rumors, we also know about a built-in Bluetooh and Wi-Fi module for syncing with a smartphone and that the camera will come in black and white body options.More images and specs are due the day before the camera announcement and it looks like the official announcement is really quite close.
