Canon celebrates 10 years anniversary of EOS 5D series

May 28, 2015. Canon celebrates 10th anniversary of famous EOS 5D camera series. EOS 5D, released in September 2005., Was the first semi-professional DSLR-camera with a full-frame CMOS-sensor 35,8×23,9 mm and completely changed the DSLR market. The relatively economical new product allowed amateur photographers to take the highest quality photos and use the tools previously available only to owners of professional DSLRs with 35mm sensors in their creative work. EOS 5D makes major contribution to the spread of full-frame photography.

In November 2008. Canon has presented the second generation of cameras – EOS 5D Mark II which has opened wide possibilities of video. Revolutionary Full HD video capture function later added to many DSLRs.

Canon’s development has transformed the video and film production industry, giving operators a full-frame video camera at a bargain price. Outstanding image quality and fine control over depth of field also took full advantage of Canon’s comprehensive EF lens range, which at the time included 64 lenses.

EOS 5D Mark III, released in March 2012., Enhanced still and video capabilities, higher-precision autofocus, and faster maximum continuous shooting speed. The camera has at once deserved recognition and became one of flagships of further development of EOS series.

More recently, February this year saw the introduction of the latest EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R featuring super-resolution sensors, which revolutionised the EOS system. New cameras surpasses models with 35-mm sensors and possess the greatest resolution on all history of the full frame – 50,6 Mpiks.
