New version has improved temperature control and monitoring of remaining recording time during video recording. The overtemperature protection is no longer disabled when using an external monitor or recording device. Also more accurately displays remaining video recording time when shooting a series of short scenes when the operator frequently turns the camera on and off. In some cases, these fixes can help extend video recording time.

The EOS R5 is a hybrid camera designed primarily for professional photographers and cameramen who need auxiliary equipment when shooting with Canon Cinema EOS cameras. It’s the perfect combination of stills and advanced movie-making capabilities. To respond to user demand for a weatherproof and rugged camera in a small, lightweight body, we opted for a passive thermal management system instead of a built-in fan. Since the camera is heated in standby mode and while filming, for the modes that require the most intensive data processing, we have set the limits based on a number of factors: internal and external temperature of the camera, how the camera is used, settings, etc. d.

Says Richard Shepherd, senior manager of professional product marketing: “Since the EOS R5 went on sale in July, we’ve been getting extremely positive feedback from photographers and videographers who have praised the autofocus system and the quality of the photos and videos they capture. Stunning photos and movies taken with this camera. Demand still exceeds supply, and we’re trying to ship orders as quickly as possible to get cameras into the hands of professionals. We’ve gathered feedback from users on what could be improved in the EOS R5, and we continue to listen to them so we know how to improve existing and future products and adapt them to changing user requirements. Based on initial feedback about the EOS R5, we’ve included small but useful fixes for video recording time control in the new firmware version.”.

Based on user feedback, Canon also plans to release another update for the EOS R5 that will add new video features. Similar firmware update planned for EOS-1D X Mark III. In addition, firmware updates are being developed for the EOS R6, which will include patches from the EOS R5 version 1 firmware.1.0.

Planned firmware for the EOS-1D X Mark III:

– Canon Log 3 Gamma

– Slower data transfer rate when shooting RAW 5.5K video

– Slower frame rate for all IPB video modes

Planned firmware for EOS R5:

– Canon Log 3 Gamma

– Slower data transfer rate when shooting RAW 8K video

– Slower data rates for video shooting in all IPB modes

– Shooting speed 119.88 frames per second in Full HD 1080p
