In the latest major firmware update 4.00 released for the Fujifilm X-T2 had quite a few bugs and apparently Fujifilm will take some time to fix them. As a temporary solution, the company released firmware 4.01, which returns the functionality of the camera to the level of the previous version 3.0
On its official website, the company has apologized to users for the inconvenience:
“For all loyal customers and photographers, the Fujifilm X Series.
It has been brought to our attention that there are several issues with the recently released X-T2 firmware update version 4.00. So we made the difficult decision to remove the update from the website until we were sure that all problems had been fully resolved. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this has caused.
Sincerely yours, Toshi Iida. CEO. Optical Devices and Electronic Imaging Division
Fujifilm Corporation, Tokyo, Japan.”
Fujifilm is committed to fixing all the flaws and releasing an updated version of the firmware as soon as possible. At the same time, the company is postponing a firmware update for GFX 50S, X-H1 and X-Pro2 for a more detailed check to avoid a repeat of this situation
The main problems that have been found in the new firmware:
1. When the RAW files that were made by the X-T2 before firmware ver.4.00 , converted into the camera version.4.00 or “FUJIFILM X RAW STUDIO,” they do not properly convert.
2. When the shutter button is pressed halfway, under certain conditions, the real-time image can begin to flicker.
3. On rare occasions there may be a hang-up.
