BBK AMS300U mini system review

At first glance, the system looks like a classic music center – the main unit and two speakers. But it’s not that simple. In addition to the basic functions – listening to music and radio, the unit will please its owners with the ability to play video, – either from a DVD or a flash drive that can be connected to the USB-port. You can also connect to the device SD MMC MM-card memory – for this purpose has a special slot.

Features of design and control

Sound is provided by two two-way speakers with maximum power of 125 watts per channel. Acoustic cables are not removable, but their length, about one and a half meters, allows the freedom of installation.

There are several fixed sound settings, and you can separately adjust the treble and bass on demand. So when watching a video, you can take advantage of the settings that are most suitable for the room.

To enhance the “cinema effect” the model is equipped with Sound Scope 3D technology, which builds three-dimensional sound in space, thus increasing the presence effect when watching a movie.

Interface

Switching possibilities are also various, – as, however, in all BBK company devices. Audio output is not only standard stereo, but also coaxial that allows using the device as a DVD player when connecting to the receiver.

You can connect the device to the monitor not only composite, but also component way, – it’s nice. There’s even an S-VIDEO connector, which comes in handy when you connect the system to older TVs.

There is also a line input for external sources, which allows using the device as an amplifier with regular acoustics.

Functionality

The device can play MPEG4, VCD, SVCD, HDCD, WMA, MP3, Picture CD, JPEG files.

Copying files to an external drive is also a nice feature. CD-RIP function allows to “compress” audio files if the virtual space is limited. If there are no restrictions, you can use the Copy Function, which copies files to an external USB-device without encoding.

When listening to the radio station frequencies can be stored in memory – for this there is a function Memory.

Most of the control functions of this music complex are on the remote control, which has a logical and convenient shape. When connected to a monitor, a menu pops up on the screen, intuitive to almost any user.

Picture and sound

The quality of video content playback does not cause you any odds, – in particular, it is even higher than in some dvd-players of this company. The sound quality is standard for devices of such class, the power is quite enough to sound the medium-sized room.

Results

Summing up, we can say that the system allows you to make a compact home theater with the possibility of two-channel sound. This can come in handy in environments where surround sound speakers are difficult to place due to limited space.

Besides the system provides an opportunity to sing karaoke – there is a microphone input and a disc for 500 songs is attached as a gift from the company, which expands its capabilities when used as a home entertainment center – both in an urban apartment, and in the country house or at work.

In the latter, the ability to view photos comes in handy, – including as a slide show, which can be useful for presentations.
