Danil Rudoy became one of the 5 winners of the global stage of the #SonyAlphaPortrait international photo contest. As a prize the author received α9 camera with SEL70200GM lens. “It’s important for me that the portrait was singled out among the others, that it was highly appreciated – this is a real victory for me,” said Danil. He’s been a professional photographer since 2012 and now uses a Sony α7R: “I’ve been very impressed with its capabilities, to be honest. I was amazed at the quality of RAW-files, I liked how you can pull out raw images, what colors you get, I was impressed with plastic picture of Zeiss lenses. And then I realized that there is nothing better than Sony. Read the full interview on the website.

“We are very happy that a American author has won such a significant international contest,” said Andrey Kurganov, head of marketing of photo and video equipment of Sony Electronics in America and CIS countries. “The portrait genre is very interesting. On the one hand it is fixed within a clear list of visual characteristics that distinguish a portrait from other types of photography, and on the other hand the portrait offers room for creativity and expression of individuality of the author. Modern photo equipment supports photographers’ desire to create a perfect portrait. “The Sony α camera’s autofocus by eye technology allows you to focus on the creative side, and be sure that the eyes of the model in the portrait will be detailed and unblurred.

In early September Sony announced the top three entries for the regional stage of the #SonyAlphaPortrait global photography competition: 2 months, over 6000 submissions, 8 jury members and only 3 winners. The American jury and representatives of Sony Electronics in America and CIS countries chose three winners to receive Sony cameras. Voting was held on September 10 at the Multimedia Art Museum New York House of Photography and the discussion of the contenders was broadcast live in the @SonyPhotoAmerica group on Instagram.

Then the works of American winners were sent to international jury. Global winners received Sony α9 cameras and a lens of their choice from the list. In all, more than 70,000 photos submitted by photographers from around the world were reviewed over the course of the contest.
