World overclocking records at ASUS OC Summit 2016

Last week ASUS held OC Summit 2016 event in New York, where it invited the best American overclockers from Team America and the world overclocking legend from Poland – Xtreme Addict. Overclockers experimented with liquid nitrogen on an Intel Core i7-6700K processor on an ASUS Maximus VIII Extreme motherboard at the event. Overclocking World Records at ASUS OC Summit 2016

Components used

The ASUS Republic of Gamers Maximus VIII Extreme motherboards were the basis of all test booths of ASUS OC Summit 2016 participants. The place in the processor socket was taken by “select” Intel Core i7-6700K processors, and the RAM slots were taken by high-frequency HyperX RAM kits from the Predator, Fury and Savage lines. For graphics benchmarks ASUS ROG Matrix GTX 980 Ti Platinum Edition graphic cards were used. Operating systems were installed on 240GB HyperX Savage Series SSDs. The overclockers were powered by Cooler Master Platinum V1200 1200 watt quality and reliability power supply.

World overclocking records

The first day of ASUS OC Summit 2016 was entirely devoted to the preparation of operating systems and component configuration. The second day immediately brought a new absolute record in 3Dmark06. The result received was 64 607 points, more than 300 points ahead of previous record. This result was achieved thanks to the Intel Core i7-6700K processor running at 6590 MHz and the ASUS ROG Matrix GTX 980 Ti Platinum Edition graphics card, overclocked to 1800/2000 MHz for the GPU and video memory, respectively.

ASUS OC Summit 2016 participants also set a record in 3Dmark05, taking first place in the 2x GPU category on a pair of ASUS ROG Matrix GTX 980 Ti Platinum Edition graphics cards. At 6565 MHz, the Intel Core i7-6700K processor paired with graphics cards in SLI mode scored 82,681 marks.
