to draw attention from photography enthusiasts around the globe. With such a prestigious event, I can’t help but wonder, what makes a photograph stand out enough to be chosen as a finalist? Is it the technical composition or the emotional impact it conveys? What criteria do the judges use to determine the best of the best? As an aspiring photographer, I am eager to know more about the selection process and gain insights from the experts. Can anyone shed light on this?

The selection process for choosing finalists in a prestigious photography competition varies, but there are a few common criteria that judges often consider. Technical composition, such as the use of lighting, focus, and framing, plays a vital role in distinguishing outstanding photographs. However, it isn’t the only factor. The emotional impact a photograph conveys, its ability to connect with viewers on a deeper level, can also set it apart. Originality, creativity, and storytelling capabilities are often valued as well. Ultimately, judges search for a combination of technical excellence and compelling storytelling. Each judge may have their own preferences, but a powerful photograph that evokes emotions and resonates with the audience usually stands a higher chance of being chosen as a finalist. As an aspiring photographer, focusing on developing both technical skills and the ability to express emotions through your work will increase your chances of success. Keep learning, practicing, and seeking feedback from experts and fellow photographers to improve your craft.
