On July 29 American wingcats beat the current European record in āBig Formationā at Aerograd Kolomna aerodrome. The historic jump was recorded by Nikon, technical partner of the event.
From July 24-29, American skydivers attempted to break the current European record for wingsuits, which was set in 2017 by pilots from France, who built a 25-way figure in the air.
Weather conditions during the week were not the most favorable, so the organizers decided to extend the event, the end of which was originally planned for July 28, for one more day. In addition, for technical reasons it was impossible to use one of the three planes, and the number of wingnuts that could be in the air at one time was reduced from 60 to 40. However, despite all the circumstances, on the 6th day of the event American wing-skiers managed to create a 38-way formation and thus surpassed the result of the skydivers from France.
All in all 12 jumps were made ā all the jumps were recorded with Nikon KeyMission 170 action camera from the beginning to the end. And thanks to KeyMission 360, we were able to capture some exciting moments in 360 degrees. The photos of the participants and their attempts to break the record were made with a Nikon D750, which also captured the decisive flight. The AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1 super wide-angle lens was used for optimal image quality.8G ED.
The official registration of the achievement will be finished after the FAI and American Parachuting Federation will examine all the documents confirming ācleanā jump. For this, experts will study photos and video of the flight and determine if the skydivers followed all the rules of the competition. Achieve an accurate estimate only if the images and video are of excellent quality. Traditionally, Nikon cameras were entrusted to collect the footage, which will show for sure if the Wingnuts succeeded in achieving the goal.
If the success of American skydivers is confirmed, it will mean that they have broken the European record, set the largest national record and the second largest record in the world in first place the international team, which formed a 61-way shape in 2015 in the USA .
