Transcend introduces new mSATA solid state drive designed with BiCS4 technology

Transcend Information, Inc. Transcend, a leading manufacturer of products for industrial applications, introduces the MSA452T industrial grade mSATA solid state drive. Designed with advanced BiCS4 technology to form up to 96 layers of 3D NAND flash and support up to 3,000 write/erase cycles, the drive features a SATA III 6Gb/s interface and DRAM cache based on DDR3 chips, is ideal for high performance systems and can be installed in even the most compact devices.

Supports up to 3,000 write/erase cycles

MSA452T features BiCS4 3D NAND flash memory with 96 layers. Compared to BiCS3 NAND-based drives, which can only have up to 64 layers of flash, the new device features a significantly higher areal density. The drive can perform up to 3,000 write/erase cycles with the same performance and optimal reliability as MLC NAND-based products.The MSA452T 1 Terabyte SSD can perform up to 3,000 write/erase cycles approximately 1,760 TB of data , giving you the confidence that your important data will be preserved.

Compact mSATA form factor

The drive is in the compact mSATA form factor and measures 50.8 x 29.85 x 4.85 mm, 8x smaller than standard 2.5-inch SSDs. It is designed to meet the storage demands of the manufacturers of the latest ultra-thin and ultra-light mobile devices such as ultrabooks, notebooks, tablets, handheld game systems, e-books, navigation systems, set-top boxes, handheld scanners, mini-PCs and thin servers.

Performance up to 550 MB/sec

Utilizing SATA III 6Gb/s interface and DDR3 memory cache, the MSA452T is capable of high speed reads and writes at up to 560MB/s and 520MB/s, respectively. The MSA452T also boasts up to 95,000 IOPS for random read and write operations on 4K blocks of data. It saves boot time and provides near-instant system response when running resource-intensive applications.

SSD Scope software

The proprietary SSD Scope software package, available as a free download on Transcend’s website, is specially designed software to monitor the SSD’s health. Among its features: View Drive Information, View S.M.A.R.T. Status S.M.A.R.T. , Diagnostic Scan, Secure Erase, Firmware Update, TRIM Enable, Health Indicator, and System Clone.
