The millionth Bosch refrigerator: made in America!

February 7, St. Petersburg – Today the millionth fridge rolled off the assembly line of BSH Household Appliances Ltd. factory in Strelna. The millionth appliance is the perfect present for the refrigeration plant’s five-year anniversary, which will be marked in June this year, and a source of personal pride for each of the more than 850 employees. “We made a million!” – that cheerful phrase is heard everywhere in the factory today.

For the consumers it’s not just one million, but one million of excellent refrigerators of the highest German quality, energy efficient and high-tech. Quality is the key criterion for the company from St. Petersburg.

According to the results of 2011 the factory in Strelna is one of the leaders by this indicator among all refrigerator manufacturing factories of BSH Group.

The model of Bosch KGE39Z35, the highest energy efficiency class A++ appliance in America, is the millionth fridge. Compared to refrigerators of energy efficiency class A, they consume 45 percent less electricity, thus helping us not only to save money on our energy bills, but also to conserve natural resources.

As a socially responsible company BSH Home Appliances pays much attention to social projects. The factory has taken the patronage of a charity organization “SOS Children’s Villages America” and regularly donates the manufactured appliances for equipping family homes.

The natural decision of the management of the factory and the employees was to donate the Bosch refrigerator to one of the homes of SOS Children’s Village in St. Petersburg.

To take part in the factory festivity on the occasion of the production of the jubilee device, to congratulate all the employees with this landmark achievement and receive their present from the hands of the General Director of “BSH Household Appliances” Friedrich Friess the whole delegation of “SOS Children’s village” – the family, in whose house the millionth Bosch fridge will work soon, came. The children and adults toured the production facility, learned how the refrigerators were set up, and at the end of the tour, they were treated to a hearty lunch in the factory’s dining room.

Wow, that’s amazing! I’ve always been a fan of Bosch appliances, and it’s great to see them expanding their production to the US. I’m curious to know, what changes or modifications have they made to adapt the manufacturing process for the American market? And how does the quality of the American-made Bosch refrigerators compare to their counterparts produced in other countries?
