Rattling mixture

Since all Miele vacuum cleaners are equipped with dust bags and as a matter of principle does not produce cyclone models, we wanted to find out the features, pros and cons of these dust collectors. That’s why we have prepared a lot of “garbage”!

Included were 2 packs of buckwheat flakes, half a kilo of buckwheat and rice mixture, 300 g of dry herbal tea very fine and spicy , 20 torn tea bags along with threads and contents, a few spoonfuls each of breadcrumbs, coffee, flour, a pack of torn wipes.

We generously sprinkled this mixture over the surfaces where the test was conducted and then thoroughly tamped it for about 10 minutes, getting the effect of caked mud.

What kind of floor do you have??

And in the Miele Gallery – the most different. There are samples of 6 types of carpeting lint-free carpet, synthetic palas, carpet, sisal, a wool rug with a long – 4 cm – pile, a cotton rug with a large short pile , tiles, hardwood floors.

Our test was done on all kinds of floors, but the tiles were cleaned so fast that we didn’t have time to take a picture.

Test #1 – cleaning 4 types of carpeting: lint-free carpet, synthetic palas, carpeting, sisal.

Nozzle: the main one, with a floor/carpet switch, in the “carpet” position, with retracted bristles. Power – 4, reduced to 3 in the process, because the carpet was sticking to the nozzle. The result is stunning: our rattlesnake mixture trampled into the carpeting disappears in 2 passes with the nozzle – back and forth!

A single rice particle gets stuck in the spiky pile of the carpet. But even this stubborn creature has a solution: in the center of the nozzle is a special “comb” which can move the clogged debris from its place and direct it into the pipe. The main thing is to go through this kind of trash with the help of the nozzle.

Power Control

It is interesting that for each type of coverage can and should ! Choose the right vacuum power for the job. The thing is that vacuuming the way we’re used to – for example, carpet on the highest power – is wrong: if the surface to be cleaned is “sucked” to the nozzle, then the passage of air is obstructed, resulting in reduced suction efficiency, and electricity is used a lot more.

This model has the third and fifth power levels out of six possible for cleaning different lengths of carpets. We also used Level 4 for energy-efficient, low-noise cleaning.

Each is indicated by a symbol light, and the power is adjusted on the handle, which has a radio remote control, using the “+” and “-” buttons.

On the lowest power setting it is recommended to vacuum curtains, on the second – upholstered furniture, on the fifth – carpeting, on the sixth – hard floors: tile, laminate.

Test #2 – cleaning long and medium pile carpets.

Nozzle: Basic, with floor/mopper switch, retracted bristles when in carpet position. Power: 5, reduced to 4 in the process. The result: instant, barely had time to take a picture.

Of course, our small debris got stuck in the dense pile, but it was still a very quick clean. We were still running the nozzle over the carpet for a long time, but there was nothing in the tube anymore you can hear it .

Test #3 – hardwood flooring

Nozzle: with a long artificial lint you can buy a natural lint if you want . The good thing about this nozzle is that it is washable. Our trash disappeared in its depths obscenely fast. We wanted to try to ruin a hardwood floorboard with the nozzle: we rubbed it, we drove it back and forth..

It didn’t work: there is no trash, the floor has not a single scratch, and this despite the fact that such tests are conducted here every day for visitors to the Gallery.

Test #4 – cleaning cat hair from four carpets

Nozzle: turbo brush inside the nozzle – roller brush, which rotates under the influence of air flow and winds hair, threads and pet hair . For the experiment, we brought the combed hair of 2 different cats – a short-haired, with sharp insidious hairs, and a long-haired – with long fluff.

Wool is piled up, but we fluffed it up and spread it out on the carpets, not forgetting to trample it. To be honest, we thought that at least the sisal wouldn’t give up its prey so easily, but no – all the mats were cleaned of fly hair in 1(!! passage.

Test #5 – nozzle cleaning

The most frustrating thing about using a turbo brush is cleaning it. Usually it is difficult to remove coiled hair, but here you can simply cut the resulting layer with small scissors and remove. By the way, we didn’t even need to cut or remove anything: the whole pile of hair managed to slip into the vacuum cleaner without winding. And we easily disassembled the main nozzle the screw can be unscrewed with literally two strokes and removed the jammed debris. By the way, the new Miele 8 series of vacuum cleaners solves this problem by having a flexible connection between the brush and the tube.

Test #6 – assessing the ergonomics of the vacuum cleaner: a bit of telling and all showing

Miele premium vacuum cleaner cupboard

The furniture nozzle by simply turning the brush transforms into a nozzle for dusting tall cabinets.

Miele premium vacuum cleaner hose

The Miele vacuum cleaner’s reach can be increased by extending the flexible hose.

Miele premium vacuum cleaner trio

The three mini nozzles that are always needed crevice nozzle, upholstery nozzle, brush nozzle with natural bristles for objects with threads, jewelry, especially sensitive objects are kept in a compartment in the body of the vacuum cleaner: they are always on hand.

Miele's trio of premium vacuums

The unique long crevice nozzle will get any dirt even in the hardest to reach places and it gets air through it even if you twist it up in a knot .

Parking the Miele premium vacuum cleaner

Vertical parking and ultra-flexible hose make for super-compact storage.

Carrying a Miele premium vacuum cleaner

The tube is attached to the side of the body when parked vertically, so no need to move the hand away when carrying the vacuum cleaner. Your arm and shoulder don’t get tired. The tube can be parked on either side – handy for right and left handers.

Miele Premium Vacuum Cleaner Bag Indicator

When it’s time to change the garbage bag on average, it lasts 3 months, and a bag set lasts a year , the light on the body will illuminate.

Miele premium vacuum cleaner bag

The fine filter at the outlet is taken out and inserted in one motion. Miele filters are unique in that a silicone rim for a snug fit is on every filter replacement unit. Most manufacturers have it in the filter slot in the vacuum cleaner itself and it quickly loses elasticity.

Miele premium vacuum cleaner wheels

The wheels rotate 360 degrees, and special “skids” help you easily traverse thresholds. The manoeuvrability of the model is amazing – it follows you on its own. The bumper made of soft plastic not only protects the furniture, but also helps to smoothly bypass obstacles. When parked horizontally during breaks , the tube is inserted into the holder and the vacuum cleaner automatically shuts off. Removing the tube – turns on at the same power. This saves energy and makes it possible, for example, to answer the phone in silence.

Miele vacuum cleaners are thoroughly thought-out, even in the smallest details. For example, if you store the vacuum cleaner in a cupboard, you need to disconnect the hose. The opening is closed with a plug fitted with an odour-absorbing filter.

The handle on the inside of a Miele premium vacuum cleaner

The ergonomic handle with a remote control on the inside is equipped with a device that draws out static electricity everyone probably knows how a vacuum cleaner can give a weak but noticeable electric shock . This cannot happen with Miele vacuum cleaners.

TEST #7 – Extreme with nails

No nozzle and no “gun”, just a hose. The shocking thing was that the detached control knob worked as if nothing had happened: it turned out to be a radio remote control. We turned it up to maximum power and scattered a package of nails all over the carpet.

This test is not just for the handle of the vacuum cleaner iron, after all! and the hose, but also for the dust bag. Even though it has 9 layers, which are filtering material, it is still soft, and nails are sharp, and they fly into it with acceleration!

HyClean bag

Our test is almost complete, and we take out the long-suffering bag. It looks full, but the Miele expert assures us that it can hold an equal amount more: after one hour of testing, the dust was not compacted as it should be.

Thinking back on the abundance of small debris removed flour, coffee , we are surprised by the cleanliness of the bag’s compartment. Not a speck of dust! When we take the bag out, a special valve closes the opening – no contact with dust! What about nails?? Inspect the bag: it’s perfectly intact!

Miele HyClean dustbags have special internal guides that ensure an even distribution of dust and debris. Each of the 9 inner layers is a filter material, the “pore size” in them decreases with each layer: this way the dust is also distributed according to the size of the particles, without clumping, clogging the main space of the bag and contributing to the reduction of suction power.

During the test we didn’t notice any reduction in suction, despite the huge volume of dust removed.

Test #8 – durability test

The Miele experts showed us such tricks that next time we promised to come with a video camera. Tossed nozzles on stone floor – they don’t break as plastic is soft and non-smooth.

Carried the vacuum cleaner by the hose – that MUST be done with Miele models. We twirled the cleaner with the hose and it rotated like a yooller – the hose doesn’t twist! “Rolled” around the Gallery by imaginary kids – “they can sit on top of!” – with twists and turns. It’s a MOTHER to do, too – fun and safe!

And for sweets – the “death knell”. You’ve seen masters of martial arts chop bricks with a single blow? This is how the Miele expert knocked the hose out of the vacuum cleaner.

Check it out: all is well? Yes. Wow!

As a user of the Miele S 5781 Total Care vacuum cleaner, I can attest to its exceptional performance. The suction power is impressive and effectively removes dirt and debris from carpets and hard floors. It also does a fantastic job of removing pet hair and allergens, which is great for pet owners or allergy sufferers. The vacuum also comes with various attachments for versatile cleaning options.

One of the standout features is the HEPA filter, which ensures that allergens are trapped and not released back into the air. However, the vacuum is a bit on the heavier side, which may be a drawback for some users. Overall, I would highly recommend this model as a good investment for those looking for a powerful and efficient vacuum cleaner that can handle pet hair and allergens with ease.
