Split-systems: how to choose the right installation?

One internal unit for two rooms can be installed if they are adjacent only conditionally – for example, if the kitchen is combined with the living room. The matter is that in all split-systems the sensor, which compares current and set air temperature, as a rule is situated in the inside unit, almost under the ceiling. Thus, as soon as air temperature in the area of an internal block will be equal to the set temperature, a conditioner will be switched off or will be in the mode of a gradual temperature maintenance, if it is an inverter model. That is the reason why you cannot cool two neighboring rooms with one indoor unit through the open standard doorway.

One powerful air conditioner is enough to cool the whole apartment?

This statement is only true if you want to combine conditioning and ventilation systems and use for this a large capacity channel split-system with a fresh air inlet and controlled automatic water-distributing bars.

Such systems are widely used in the U.S., but they have not caught on in America because of the high cost and complexity of implementing a full-fledged comfortable system.

If we are talking about usual split-systems, such devices are installed on the principle “one indoor unit – one room”.

It does not matter where to install the indoor unit?

You should not place the indoor unit of the air conditioner in front of the bed or sofa. It is important to avoid direct cold air, because it is easy to get hypothermia and colds.

When arranging the furniture it is worth considering this factor. And it is best to tell the engineer where the bed is in the bedroom so he can properly calculate the direction of the flow of cool air.

It means the repairing?

Many people think that it is impossible to install a conditioner after the finishing works are finished.

In fact the climatic equipment demands the complete installation: between the outside and inside blocks a line for the refrigerant and electric wiring is laid, which is usually put in a wall, and the inside block is installed after the finishing.

But even in case if a repair is finished you should not refuse from purchase because of it. Route and electric wiring can be led over the wall and covered with a decorative plastic box.

Install only in summer?

It is a mistake to think that a split-system is installed only during the warm season. On the contrary, it is much more profitable to buy conditioner in winter than in summer, in the period of seasonal sales.

Companies often offer discounts, and you will have the best installers who will install the unit without rushing and making appointments a week in advance.

There is an air conditioner, it is possible not to air?

Those, who think that all conditioners not only cool the air, but also provide a ventilation, are wrong. Duct or cassette split systems can be integrated into the ventilation system. As for conventional systems, their internal unit cools the air in the room by channelling it through. Outside air is not involved. If the room is not equipped with additional ventilation, there will be no air supply.

Only some models of split-systems are equipped with air inflow function, but even in this case we cannot speak about full-fledged ventilation, because the volume of circulating air is too small.
