Sony launches UHS-II SF-G TOUGH SD-card in America

The most reliable SD card designed for professionals. No matter what kind of conditions you shoot in, the wearable SF-G series of TOUGH spec cards will deliver high-end performance.

These cards combine the fastest recording and reading speeds with an ultra-rugged casing that can withstand 180 N of bending and a 5 m drop. The SF-G TOUGH SD card is also waterproof to IPX8 and dustproof to IP6X, important for photographers who want a good shot in any environment.

Sony

New SF-G TOUGH series of SD cards are 18 times stronger than standard cards thanks to the world’s first one-piece design all-molded, no cavities inside the card and high-strength materials, unlike standard 3-piece, thin SD cards. They are protected from the typical physical effects that can put ordinary SD cards out of action, such as damage to the plastic casing, breakage of the write protection switch and connector rib breakage.

This is due to the unique design of the world’s first ribless card without a write protection switch. These innovations make the SF-G TOUGH cards more resistant to bending, and by removing easily breakable elements from the design, Sony was able to achieve the best balance of strength and rigidity. Fully sealed, all-mold casing protects the card from water and dust ingress, ensuring it meets the highest standards of water resistance IPX8 and dust protection IP6X .

Get the most out of your camera

In the wake of industry trends dictated by Sony, full-frame mirrorless cameras are becoming increasingly powerful in both still and video capture. These high-tech cameras reach their peak performance when paired with fast memory cards, and as professional photographers are increasingly opting for SD cards these days, they need the high reliability and ruggedness of other types of professional cards.

With the world’s fastest write speed of up to 299MB/s, buffer clearance time is minimized, so you can shoot at high frame rates and get the results you want. The SF-G TOUGH series of cards also supports V90, the highest video speed standard, so it’s perfect for capturing high-definition video.

What’s more, the SF-G TOUGH’s 300MB/sec read speed makes transferring large photos and videos much easier. This is another of the world’s fastest devices, which significantly speeds up the work with footage. Another feature of the SF-G TOUGH cards that makes them especially practical for photographers is the bright yellow stripe that helps the card be quickly detected in low-light conditions.
