MARCEL VAN OPEN

After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in Directing, the Dutch-born Marcel began his career in advertising, with a famous TV commercial for a Dutch environmental organization that fosters a love of the natural world and popularizes the idea of conservation.

Photography has become a way for him to escape from the kaleidoscopic life of an advertising executive. But it wasn’t until his trip to Tanzania and the animals of the Serengeti, that Marcel developed a love for wildlife photography. Five years later, Marcel left advertising to focus on professional photography. He never returned to advertising.

Marcel reveals: “My photographs are a personal creative perception of the natural world. Enjoying the beauty of our planet, we must not forget how fragile it is. My hope is that through my photography, people will understand the importance of preserving and protecting the Earth for themselves and future generations.

His photos are known for their composition, lighting, accurate color reproduction and perspective. For his work Marcel has been awarded many prestigious prizes and has won awards such as Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Travel Photographer of the Year and International Nature Photographer of the Year.

When it comes to equipment, Marcel relies on the reliability of the D5 from Nikon, which was his first choice for wildlife photography, as well as the D850 and the new Z 7 mirrorless camera for landscapes.

Marcel concludes by stating: “I am honored to be a Nikon Ambassador in Europe. Thanks to Nikon’s cameras, lenses and technological advances over the years, I’ve been able to get a lot of unique shots. For example, I love the new Z 7 camera. The quality of the images are even better than I imagined. I also loved its weight – it’s so lightweight that there’s always room for it in my briefcase.”.

MARSELLE BERSH

The photographs by Marie, who lives in Leipzig, are a hymn to beauty. Images of people in the background of stunningly beautiful exotic nature make a strong impression on readers.
