Advanced imaging technology in an ultra-compact weatherproof camera delivers high image quality in any shooting conditions

All parts of the OM-D E-M5 Mark III have been made more compact to ensure the best ergonomics. New compact built-in 5-axis image stabilization unit for superior image quality

New 5-axis IS unit has been designed to deliver high level image stabilization in a compact, lightweight body. Taking information from the high-sensitivity gyro sensor and image analysis, the TruePic VIII GPU precisely controls the IS module to compensate for up to 5.5 stops of exposure2. Olympus’ renowned image stabilisation system delivers superb stabilisation with all lenses attached to the OM-D E-M5 Mark III.

The OM-D E-M5 Mark III offers even better exposure compensation – up to 6.5 stops, making it ideal for low-light and telephoto shooting at maximum focal lengths – when using the lens 3 with its built-in stabilization system.

Versatile and unique shooting functions – Live Composite, Pro Capture, Focus Bracketing and High Res Shot

Live Composite for extra-long exposure times

OM-D E-M5 Mark III with Live Composite. In Movie Mode, the camera records a still picture first, and then brighter objects remain there if they do not move and brightness does not change only lighter objects are added. This function prevents overexposure in slow shutter speed photography. The result appears on the camera’s display in real time.

Pro Capture mode to capture a fraction of a second

Pro Capture mode captures hard-to-foresee scenes, like a bird taking off. Pro Capture begins recording while half-pressing the shutter button and buffering up to 14 frames at full resolution. At full press, normal continuous shooting starts and the photographer has the option to “go back in time” and select the desired moment captured in those 14 frames.

High Res Shot for capturing high-resolution images of 50 megapixels tripod required

Tripod High Res Shot shifts the sensor in 0.5 pixel increments, capturing 8 consecutive shots that are then combined into one super sharp 50MP high resolution photo. Ideal for landscapes, subjects, candid shots and other situations that require high-definition images.

Focus Bracketing and Focus Stacking for close-up shots

Focus Bracketing captures up to 999 pictures with a single press of the shutter button, shifting the focus position slightly for each shot. The number of focus area offsets is selectable from 10 levels and recorded images can be combined into a single image in the free Olympus Workspace image editing software. The result is an image with a depth of field that cannot be obtained by simply closing the diaphragm.

Focus Stacking function in the E-M5 Mark III automatically stacks images. Eight frames with different focus area positions are stacked into one image with greater depth of field – from foreground to background.

Other features to empower photographers and videographers

OM-D Movie for C4K recording

The information from the built-in phase AF sensor is used to optimize focus when recording video. This allows users to record 4K 30P high-definition video. Combining 5-axis stabilisation and electronic stabilisation enables stable movies with minimal camera shake. No additional equipment, even in fast-moving situations.

Brilliant large viewfinder

The E-M5 Mark III has a high-contrast 2.36 million-dot OLED panel and EVF with minimal edge distortion. The user gets a more accurate framing and can concentrate on taking pictures. Increased viewpoint allows comfortable use of the viewfinder even with eyeglasses.

Mechanical shutter speed of 1/8000

The camera has a high-speed mechanical shutter with a shutter speed of up to 1/8000th of a second. Capture beautiful images with out-of-focus effects even at maximum aperture, with large-diameter lenses and in bright lighting conditions.

Custom mode for custom shooting settings

This function can be used to save frequently used camera settings C icon on the mode dial . After saving the settings, the user simply sets the mode dial to “C” to instantly activate the set shooting settings.

Easy connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with the OI app.Share

Bluetooth can be used to automatically connect the camera to a smartphone by simply launching Olympus Image Share OI.Share – the app will allow you to import images and video files into your smartphone via Wi-Fi. With “Sharing Order,” selected files can be automatically transferred to a smartphone even when the camera is off.

USB charging

Rechargeable battery can be charged via USB including car cigarette lighter and Power Bank .

Anti-flicker and Flicker scan

When shooting with Anti-Flicker, the camera detects the flicker frequency of light sources and controls shutter speed at maximum brightness to compensate for exposure and color changes between shots. Flicker scan allows you to select the appropriate shutter speed to reduce flicker when shooting.

Scene mode SCN and Art Filters

In Scene mode SCN , you can select from six scenes to let the camera automatically choose the best settings. The E-M5 Mark III also offers 16 art filters to help diversify your photos. Artifilter effect can be adjusted with a handy slider, selecting the desired position directly from the display.

Compatible accessories

ECG-5 grip

In some shooting conditions, photographers may require the ECG-5 grip for the OM-D E-M5 Mark III, which doubles as a shutter button and control dial, providing a better hold on the camera.
