Nikon introduced a new firmware update, version 2.00 for Nikonās mirrorless Z 50 cameras with an APS-C format sensor Nikonās DX format and 3.10 for full-frame cameras Nikonās FX format Nikon Z 7 and mirrorless cameras Nikon Z 6. These major updates are designed to further enhance the performance of Nikonās Z mount.
Firmware version 2.00 for the Z 50 camera
1. Animal detection AF for automatic focusing on the muzzle or eyes of dogs and cats
Animal detection AF function supports animal filming and enables the camera to detect the eyes and muzzles of dogs and cats. When recognizing multiple animal faces or eyes, you can use the left and right indicators to choose where the camera should focus. Only animal faces not eyes are recognized during movie recording.
2. More comfortable AF subject guidance
Subject tracking during AF-area photography AF-A, AF-C and auto AF-area selection has been improved for greater ease of shooting. Camera tracks subject while shutter-release button is pressed halfway. Guide ends when user removes finger from button. Improved operability ā the focus point returns to its original position before driving the subject.
Can also be set to toggle between the automatic AF area selection screen and the subject guide screen, making it easier for users to switch to subject guide or change the target subject while looking through the viewfinder.
Firmware version 2.00 for the Z 50 and firmware version 3.10 for the Z 7 and Z 6
Z TC-1 telephoto support.4x and TELECONVERTER Z TC-2.0x
Z TC-1 TELECONVERTER.4x and the Z TC-2 teleconverter.0x Extends* the telephoto capabilities of compatible NIKKOR Z lenses by increasing the focal length of the prime lens 1.4x and 2.0x respectively . NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S is the first lens model compatible with them. Using these teleconverters does not change the minimum focus distance, so users can get even closer to subjects during shooting. Teleconverters also increase the AF and VR performance of the prime lens for easy shooting.
*With only one exposure step loss when using the TC-1.4x or two-stop exposure with the TC-2.0x.
Thatās exciting news! Iām curious to know what improvements or new features does this firmware update offer for the Z-series mirrorless cameras? Are there any specific areas that Nikon has targeted for enhancement?
