The main purpose of the MUWI is to capture smooth, cinematic video with a wide range of devices, from smartphones to DSLR cameras. Lightweight and foldable, it can be carried everywhere in your pocket. Despite its small size MUWI can handle a total weight of up to 5 kg.
MUWI has a simple design and is originally designed for use with smartphones. The cart has four rubber-coated swivel wheels which allow it to travel in a straight or curved path. Steel ball bearings are used in the wheel construction for easier movement. The smartphone mount is recessed into the top of the body and can rotate 360 degrees and tilt up to 270 degrees. The cart uses carbon fiber reinforced polymer as its material, so it weighs only 100 grams.
MUWI is controlled manually and not through the app for your smartphone, as it is in most of these devices. But the use of optional accessories can greatly expand its capabilities. To avoid having to push the cart manually, you can use the optional FLOW motorized unit, which will move it automatically. FLOW is powered by a built-in lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 750 mA/h, which is fully charged for 6 hours of work in active mode and 72 hours in time-lapse mode. The FLOW is controlled by an adjustment dial located on the corset, and comes down to setting the maximum speed from 0.1 to 50 mm/s. The unit must be visually monitored to ensure that the cart does not roll out of bounds or over the edge of the table. The optional FLOW X remote makes it easy to control the FLOW unit. It can be used to decrease or increase speed, change direction, as well as to give a command to your smartphone to start recording video or program time-lapses. Transmits the signal to your smartphone via Bluetooth connection with low power consumption.
Other accessories for MUWI include the SWIVEL CLIP and the TRACK rail. SWIVEL CLIP mount has a standard tripod thread and enables you to install digital cameras, action cameras and smartphones with stabilizers on the cart. TRACK guide turns the MUWI into a lightweight and simple slider that can be mounted on any tripod. The guide has a folding design and is made of aluminum.
Price and affordability
The MUWI cart is available for pre-order through Kickstarter, where fundraising for its release has been organized. The project has now grossed about $270000 of the planned $35000.
