More speed, more features: the new flagship smartphone Sony Xperia 1 II

Sony announced an expansion of its Xperia lineup and unveiled its first flagship smartphone model with 5G support. New flagship Sony Xperia 1 II smartphone built for speed. It will allow you to create and enjoy content effortlessly by integrating market-leading technology from Sony.

Capture the most important moments with high-speed shooting

The new triple camera uses industry-leading Sony Alpha autofocus technology and features outstanding ZEISS optics with calibrations specifically selected for the Xperia 1 II, as well as ZEISS T* Coating, which produces photos of exceptional quality and contrast by reducing glare.

Using technology developed for Alpha™ interchangeable lens cameras, Xperia 1 II enables continuous autofocus3, calculating autofocus and exposure parameters up to 60 times per second.

It allows, for the first time, the smartphone to implement continuous autofocus and exposure tracking for high-speed continuous shooting at up to 20 frames per second This is especially important when photographing moving subjects such as children, animals or athletes. Focus and track your subjects with precision, helping you capture even more of the important moments you don’t want to miss.

What’s more, Real-time Eye AF, which locks focus on the subject’s eyes for stunning portraits, now works on both people and animals.

The Xperia 1 II’s high-speed focus also works in low-light conditions, delivering high-quality images in challenging conditions by combining four technologies: a dual photodiode sensor8, an autofocus system that covers approximately 70 percent9 of the sensor, the iToF 3D sensor and the new 1/1 large Exmor RS™ sensor.7 inches for mobile devices. All this makes the camera 1.5 times more sensitive than its predecessor, providing faster and more accurate autofocus when shooting in low-light conditions.

The triple camera offers fantastic versatility by supporting three focal lengths: 16mm/24mm/ 70mm. New Photography Pro technology carried over from the Alpha cameras, offering a user interface already familiar to Alpha photographers, with manual controls for ISO, shutter speed and many other settings.

Imaging Edge for Mobile lets you connect the Xperia 1 II to Sony Alpha cameras and use the smartphone as a platform for remote control of composition, focus mode, ISO sensitivity and other settings. It also lets you transfer photos you’ve taken with the Alpha to Xperia 1 II, so you can control color and tonality with professional precision.

Cinematography Pro, built on CineAlta technology, now supports 10-bit 2K HDR cinematography at 120 frames per second, as well as 4K HDR cinematic video recording at a 21:9 aspect ratio at 24/25/30/60 frames per second, taking cinematography to a new level. Touch AF, manual exposure scales, level metering and improved white balance give users even more manual control, while unique Sony technology helps minimise noise and wind noise, giving you clear audio recording.

Smart and powerful

Xperia 1 II features a 4000 mAh battery with fast charging, so you can charge the smartphone up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. In addition, the new product supports Qi fast wireless charging for battery recovery on the go. Sony continues to work on refining the technology to give you longer battery life and keep the battery working longer. Specifically, Sony introduced the Battery Care feature &lsquo Battery Care’ based on artificial intelligence, which monitors the battery status based on your lifestyle.

Be immersed in your entertainment

Whether you’re listening to music or watching movies, Xperia 1 II is perfect for entertaining. Technology to reduce motion blur similar to what’s used in 90Hz displays. It reduces frame lag for crisper, higher-quality images, and Dolby Atmos® sound, tuned in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, creates a multidimensional surround sound experience.

Xperia 1 II draws on our expertise in both audio and entertainment. This, as well as the sound tuning in collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment, allowed the smartphone to sound as authentic as possible. Sound quality is enhanced by the world’s first-ever smartphone implementation of 360 Reality Audio hardware decoding technology to optimize audio quality when listening to music on the global music and entertainment platform TIDAL.

Enjoy high quality music through the front stereo speakers and on 3.5mm jack wired or wireless headphones. Significant changes in sound settings have reduced interference to an inaudible 20dB – that’s a 90% reduction compared to connecting headphones via USB-C.

In addition to High-Resolution Audio and High-Resolution Wireless Audio, Xperia 1 II features DSEE Ultimate support. This new technology uses artificial intelligence to automatically improve audio frequency and bitrate in real time, bringing any audio content played back closer to high-resolution sound. Plus, thanks to Sony’s partnership with Qualcomm® Snapdragon Elite Gaming™, you can enjoy a Call of Duty® game specially tuned for the Xperia 1 II mobile device.

Game Enhancer, first introduced in Xperia 1 to enhance your mobile gaming experience, has been enhanced on Xperia 1 II with more features. It now supports Competition Set, which turns Xperia into a fully fledged gaming device that can be used in cyber-sports competitions. In addition, the updated technology has improved touchscreen response time for excellent mobile gameplay compared to Xperia 1.
