Loewe Connect Id 55 dr+: Our recommendation for those for whom picture quality trumps a wealth of features

This TV set has an ID prefix in its name, – Individual Design, indicating the possibility to pick up a model in the desired design. The main body is available in two colors – black and white, but the bottom insert, the most visually meaningful part, is available in different colors. What’s interesting – regardless of color, the shades of all variants are soft, – in line with the image, so when you watch this detail will not detract from the visual perception of what is happening on the screen.

Functionality

An interesting feature is the in-built 500 Gb Hard Disk Drive – when you press pause while watching TV, the information is recorded and you can continue watching from where you left off. The Loewe Connect ID feature isn’t new – it’s been around for over a decade – but what makes it special is that you can see recorded content on other Loewe TVs in your home network by activating FollowMe, which essentially turns the TV into a server. Speaking of which, this feature was highlighted at the EISA. There is also a model without a hard drive, – Loewe Connect ID, – for 20 t.r. cheaper.

Loewe Connect ID hard disk recordings can be controlled not only with the remote control, but also via iPad using the Loewe VideoNet app. With the Loewe Assist Media app on your iPad, it becomes a high-end remote control. Smart Tv is implemented by MediaNet service, – a platform for interactive Internet TV applications.

In addition, the TV has a built-in Opera browser, which provides direct access to Internet sites. The TV also has a digital tuner for DVB-T C and DVB-S2. True, these standards are barely relevant for America anymore, but it is possible to integrate the DVB-T2 standard module – the Germans have thought of everything. Another nice addition to the functionality is the built-in media player, which reads the most common formats.

We cannot say that all these functions – a media player and Smart TV, are implemented in Loewe Connect ID “fully” – in some more budget devices of other manufacturers, these additional “devices” will be more advanced. Certainly, a modern TV set must have an abundance of functions, but in this model it is considered to be rather a tribute to a trend, the main thing here is the image.

Picture

If to describe the picture in two words we can say: it’s natural. The colors are “European”, – t.e. There are no very bright colors, no dominance of “green” or “redness”, etc.p. If we draw an analogy with sound, the picture is similar to the sound of an expensive audio system – you switch it on, start to listen and do not understand “for what the money is” – there are no bright tops, strong lows are not heard… But an hour or two passed – and you just listen to music and have no desire to analyze tones…

Same here, – colors are unobtrusive and natural. In standard terms, black is deep, nuances are conveyed very well, – no transitions are visible. There are no questions to the moving images as well – no blur, “saw” and other unpleasant artifacts – after all, the frequency of 200 Hz.

Despite the waning general interest in 3D imaging, the TV can play it back – it uses active technology. By the way, when you view the three-dimensional image visual stress increases, so calm soft colors will be relevant here.

Sound:

The device has two wide-band speakers 20W each and a built-in subwoofer 40W music power – all this is “pumped” Class D amplifier.

The sound is rich and dense, you can hear the dialogues clearly. It is clear that the TV with a diagonal of 55 inches will be located in a rather large room, so the power reserve sound path should be – which is realized here. Sound power enough to sound a room of 40 meters or more.

Advantages:

This TV set can be recommended to those buyers for whom the image quality is more important than the abundance of functions, which are often underutilized.
