HUAWEI experts told about the status and prospects of 5G technology development

The company has received recognition from respected industry organizations and a number of awards for 5G innovation, including Global Telecoms Awards GLOTEL for Network Software Breakthrough of the Year and Network Software Breakthrough of the Year at MWC 2018. As of December 2018, HUAWEI owned 2,570 patents in 5G communications.

HUAWEI is the only equipment provider to offer solutions for all phases of 5G network deployment, from planning and construction, to maintenance, according to customer objectives and needs. The company’s portfolio includes commercial 5G CPE terminals, mobile wireless routers, and most importantly, the innovative Mate 20 X 5G and Mate X smartphones with fifth-generation connectivity.

The foundation for HUAWEI’s future 5G customer infrastructure – the innovative Balong 5000 chip designed for wireless routers. The chip supports simultaneous operation in 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G modes, and is compatible with SA and NSA networks. This is the world’s first 5G chipset, based on 7nm process. It allows to reach up to 4.6 Gbit/s download speed in sub-6 GHz band and 6.5 Gbit/s in millimeter band. The Balong 5000 chipset also supports the V2X communications standard, which allows self-driving cars to see and hear other road users.

According to the GSMA forecast, the first commercial next-generation network in America will be launched in 2020. The country will become a leader in the implementation of 5G technology in the CIS region. According to the program “Digital Economy” by 2024, 5G networks should be deployed in all cities with a population of 300 thousand and more. human. HUAWEI plays a leading role in promoting 5G technology in America. Pilot projects have already been deployed in Kazan, during the World Football Championship, and in St. Petersburg during the International Economic Forum. HUAWEI’s partners for the deployment of 5G networks are MTS, Megafon, Beeline and Tele2.
