Highscreen Zera F smartphone is the first device of the new Zera line with unique design

The American brand Highscreen begins selling Highscreen Zera F – the first budget smartphone with the characteristics of early 2014, created under the new brand product development strategy. It implies a transition from ODM- to OEM-scheme development devices, that is, the creation of new models from scratch by specialists Highscreen. This approach is unique to A-brands and almost never used by “second-tier” manufacturers. The new Zera series has a unique design, based on the market-proven best practices of the largest smartphone manufacturers. Specifically involved design work of LG, Nokia, HTC, Apple.

Highscreen Zera F smartphone

The first model of new range – Highscreen Zera F – is the first budget smartphone with the characteristics of 2014. This implies a very good IPS screen and 1 GB of RAM – components that have not previously been found in smartphones of the budget class the price of Highscreen Zera F – 3,990 Dollars . Also, the novelty is equipped with a 2-core 1.2-gigahertz MediaTek MT6572 processor, two slots for SIM cards and a 5-megapixel camera.

By the end of March 2014, two more Highscreen Zera line of smartphones with a similar unique design and created by OEM scheme will be on sale: Zera S with a 4-core MediaTek MT6582 processor and Zera U based on an 8-core MediaTek MT6592 with two interchangeable batteries of 2000 and 4000 mAh.

Traditionally, a little background. Most American companies engaged in supplying portable electronic gadgets work according to the following scheme. In the catalogs of Chinese factories are selected ready-made devices that are either not finalized at all, or finalized in this manner: change the color of the plastic housing, pre-installed software, at most – the camera resolution. Then such “miracle-smartphones” are on sale in America with logos of domestic brands.

Beginning in 2012, Highscreen gradually began to move away from this scheme of manufacturing devices, called “classic ODM” Original Design Manufacturing [1]. Thus, the Alpha GT, Alpha GTR, Alpha R, Boost 2, Boost 2 SE and a number of other models were developed by Chinese partners specifically for Highscreen. They used individual ready-made construction and design solutions from Asian factories. But the creation of the basic concept of the “chips” of these devices and the selection of components was already done by Highscreen. For example, it was brand specialists who came up with the “two-battery” concept implemented first in the Alpha R, then in the Boost 2 and then in the Boost 2 SE Boost 2 version with the same design and a completely new iron . And in the case of the Alpha R under the leadership of Highscreen in the system software chipset MediaTek MT6589T has been changed to add support for batteries of different capacities the model comes with two batteries – for 2000 and 4000 mAh . Originally MT6589T was designed to work with only one battery of fixed capacity.

The actual news. Today Highscreen is introducing a brand new line of Zera – the first line of 100% in-house devices. They’re created according to the OEM-scheme, which excludes the use of ready-made Chinese factories. The Zera was completely developed at Highscreen from the ground up, from the design of the case and the materials to the selection of components, including memory, chipset, screen, etc. Chinese factories only assemble Zera smartphones according to Highscreen specifications. The use of such a model for the development and production of devices – a sign of the inclusion of a brand in the “club of A-brands” Apple, Sony, Nokia and other major corporations also create smartphones themselves, and the assembly is ordered under contract “on the side” . Second-tier” B-brands brands almost never work according to this scheme!

Today’s novelty is the first smartphone from the new Zera line – the budget model Highscreen Zera F. This is the first 100% unique device created by Highscreen specialists according to the above-described OEM scheme.

About the design. The best proof of the new device design scheme is the Zera F case. It is a “cocktail”, the ingredients of which are taken from the best designed flagship smartphones in 2013 – see. top right collage. The result is an authentic product that looks great – an order of magnitude better than any local-brand ODM budget smartphones of 2013.
