Should I hire a photo editor, a designer, a layout designer, a color groomer to prepare a layout?? No, not at first, we say, and invite you to participate in a practical seminar “Creation of an author photo book”, classes that will help you do everything yourself and get exactly the product that you want. The School of Visual Arts invites you to take part in the workshop on author’s book creation under the guidance of Anton Mikhailovsky.

In the program of the seminar
1 author’s small edition photo book – a trend in contemporary photography,
2 Narrative and how to construct a visual narrative,
3 Basics of photo and color correction,
Preparing photographs for print,
5 Basics of typography, design as a necessary and important element in a book,
6 Discussion of the photographic and textual materials of each participant’s project,
7 basic work techniques in desktop publishing programs,
8 Creation of the book layout,
9 Introduction to digital printing and a visit to a print shop,
10 Preparation of the project for printing, presentation of the finished project.
All in all 8 lessons of 4 academic hours 2-3 times a week. The schedule of classes is flexible, the day and start time of each lesson are determined in advance by agreement with the group and invited masters.
Participation fee: 12 800r. For students of the School of Visual Arts – 10,400r. Number of seats 8. Classes start as soon as the group is enrolled. The price of the seminar doesn’t include printing costs for the book publishing.

Anton Mikhailovsky graduated from St. Petersburg University of Culture and the Arts. Since 2008 coordinates different educational projects, connected with visual communications and social projects. Over the past three years he has held: master classes for eleven winners of the international photojournalism contest World Press Photo New York, 2009-2011 , Luchen Perkins workshop on creating multimedia projects New York, June 2009 , master classes for photographers and multimedia producers during the Reality Projections exhibition New York, March 2010 , workshop for American and Polish youth Kaliningrad, November 2011 Gdansk, February 2012 , more than 15 online seminars with world-famous photographers, photo editors and industry leaders on the OR[EDU] project, many lectures and portfolio reviews. Working on the 2009-2012 World Press Photo exhibitions in America. Worked as an editor-in-chief at Treemedia publishing house, the only independent American publishing house specializing in documentary photography books. Co-founder of author book printing service Nemakulatura.
