Fujifilm X-Pro2 with the world’s only hybrid viewfinder and new 24 megapixel X-Trans III sensor

Fujifilm is proud to announce the Fujifilm X-Pro2 premium interchangeable lens camera. Equipped with a hybrid viewfinder that enables you to instantly switch between optical and electronic display, an upgraded sensor and processor to greatly enhance image quality. Combining these features with the ultra-high quality Fujinon X-mount lenses and the color reproduction technology built up over 80 years of film production allows the X-Pro2 to achieve the best results among the X-series.

The electronic viewfinders EVF used in mirrorless cameras are superior to conventional optical viewfinders because they show all exposure settings in real time, including white balance, shutter speed even before the picture is taken, and the displayed image can be magnified to check focus accuracy.

However, there are times when photographers prefer a more natural viewfinder display. The OVF in particular makes it possible for the user to see with the naked eye almost as if they were looking through it, which is especially valued in documentary, reportage and street photography.

X-Pro2 is the world’s only interchangeable lens camera that combines both types of viewfinders.

World’s first Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder, offering the benefits of both an optical and an electronic viewfinder

X-Pro2 has both an optical viewfinder and an electronic viewfinder, allowing users to take advantage of both: optical view for a direct view of the subject, and electronic view for a parameter view. The ability to instantly switch between the two viewfinder types was first introduced on X100 in 2011, but the latest version found on X-Pro2 is the most advanced Hybrid Viewfinder. Equipped with the “Multi Zoom” function, which automatically switches the finder magnification according to the lens in use, and the “Electronic Rangefinder” mode, which displays the electronic viewfinder on top of the optical viewfinder at the same time.

New mechanical shutter with a maximum speed of 1/8000 sec. and flash sync up to 1/250 sec.

Faster mechanical shutter gives more flexibility for selecting aperture in bright lighting conditions or when shooting with the flash in the daytime. Normally, shutter noise and vibration levels increase with shorter shutter speeds, but the X-Pro2 is quieter and less vibrating than conventional models, thanks to optimization of key controls and parts.

Rugged, all-weather body meets the needs of professional photographers.

The chassis was made of a magnesium alloy and consists of four parts. It has a sealed design with a total of 61 seals, making the camera dust and splash proof and capable of operating in temperatures as low as -10° C

Interval Shooting function

Built-in timer function from 1 second to 24 hours 999 shots in total .

Key product features

Absolute image quality, thanks to the highest-resolution sensor available today in the X series and unique color reproduction techniques developed through more than 80 years of film-making experience

* X-Pro2 features the new 24.3 Megapixel X-Trans CMOS III sensor that utilizes a unique array of color filters randomly positioned to reduce moiré and false colors without the need for an optical low-pass filter OLPF . By eliminating OLPF, the resolution of Fujinon lenses is maximized to provide images comparable to larger, higher resolution sensors.

* Fujifilm’s unique color reproduction technology, developed from more than 80 years of photographic film production, delivers beautiful colors as you remember them, including natural skin tones, clear blue skies and vivid green foliage.

Mirror-less cameras

* X-Pro2 has a new film simulation mode, ACROS. Utilizing the high processing power of X-Processor Pro, the mode produces smooth tones, deep blacks and rich textures that are vastly superior to conventional monochrome modes.

* The new “Adding Grain” mode produces images reminiscent of old film photos, especially when printed.

* Reduced noise is made possible by improved signal processing technology. Image quality at high ISO sensitivities has also been improved. A maximum ISO value of 12,800 in RAW can now be used with confidence. At higher ISO speeds of up to 51,200, smoother gradations and deeper blacks are present, greatly enhancing low-light shooting capabilities.

The Fujifilm X-Pro2 sounds impressive with its hybrid viewfinder and high-resolution X-Trans III sensor. But I’m curious, does this camera offer any advanced autofocus system or professional video capabilities?

    Reply
    1. Rhiannon

Yes, the Fujifilm X-Pro2 does indeed offer an advanced autofocus system with a total of 273 focus points, including both phase detection and contrast detection. This allows for quick and accurate focusing, especially in challenging lighting conditions. However, in terms of professional video capabilities, the X-Pro2 falls slightly short as it is more focused on still photography. It can capture Full HD video at 60fps, but lacks features such as 4K recording or advanced video settings. Overall, the X-Pro2 is a fantastic camera for photographers looking for high-quality still images with a unique shooting experience provided by the hybrid viewfinder.
