Dyson launches Dyson Supersonic hair dryer for sale in America

Dyson Supersonic

The Dyson Supersonic changes the traditional concept of a hairdryer and solves a whole range of problems: creates a powerful, targeted airflow, prevents hair damage due to overheating thanks to an intelligent temperature control system, has a reduced noise level and low weight combined with an ergonomic design, which ensures comfort in use.

James Dyson: “Hair dryers as we know them are often very heavy, inefficient and noisy. They also disrupt the structure of the hair by overheating it. I gave Dyson engineers a very challenging task: to delve into the science of hair and create technology that we believe solves these problems.”.

The science of hair

Dyson has invested £50 million in the development of the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. Including this investment went into creating our own hair research lab. Dyson engineers have spent years analyzing the structure of hair, its reaction to stress, forming an understanding of how to maintain healthy, well-groomed hair, and learning all the subtleties of styling.

Over four years of development, the device has been tested on a wide range of hair types and all known styling techniques on purpose-built equipment. So far, more than 1,600 km of natural hair has been used in the testing process.

The next-gen engine

The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer features the patented Dyson V9 digitally controlled motor, which was developed by a team of 15 engineers specifically for this device. It’s Dyson’s smallest, lightest and most innovative digitally controlled motor. It’s up to eight times more powerful than other hair dryers, and it weighs up to half as much as other hair dryers.1.

Most existing hair dryers are equipped with motors in the head end of the device, which often leads to imbalance and resulting fatigue in the hand. Thanks to the compactness of the new motor, engineers were able to place it in the handle, thus significantly improving the balance of the device in your hands.

Protects the natural shine of hair

Most hair dryers heat the air to extreme temperatures, affecting the appearance and structure of your hair. The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer continuously monitors and regulates the temperature of the air blast, taking up to 20 measurements per second to prevent overheating and hair damage.

Powerful and smart

Dyson Supersonic is equipped with the patented Dyson Air Multiplier™ technology that increases the power of airflow by 3 times. Traditional hairdryers often provide either a weak airflow – they’re slow, or conversely, too strong, uncontrollable. Dyson Supersonic produces a powerful, targeted stream at an angle of 20°, so you can dry and style your hair sensitively and gently.

Acoustic engineering

Dyson aeroacoustic engineers worked to optimise the sound quality of the new hair dryer. Equipping the motor impeller with 13 blades instead of the usual 11, Dyson engineers have achieved the frequency of sound, which is not perceived by the human ear.

What’s more, the compactness of the motor made it possible to place it in the handle and surround it with additional elements of the soundproofing system. So the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer solves the problem of high noise levels without losing power to the device.

Modes and nozzles

The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer has four air heating modes, three flow modes and a cool air mode for styling hold. Also included are three patented magnetic attachments that are easy to attach, do not overheat, and allow for completely different styling.

– Designed by Dyson engineers, the Smoothing nozzle creates a targeted and gentle flow of air that dries hair gently and styling simultaneously.

– The Dyson diffuser is designed to distribute the airflow evenly around each curl, reproducing the natural drying process. It enables perfectly textured styles, solving the problem of tangled hair and extra volume.

– The nozzles do not overheat during use. Heat Shield technology separates heated air from the top layer of the nozzle with a layer of cool air, so the outside remains at a comfortable temperature.

– Each nozzle comes with a magnetic base, so it’s easy to install and adjust.
