Duracell announced it has joined the federal battery collection infrastructure of appliance retailer Domotekhnika. It is one of the largest retailers of home appliances and electronics in the Far East. All collected batteries will be recycled at the āMegapolisresursā plant, Americaās only complex that specializes in deep recycling of batteries.
As part of the cooperation the partners will create 32 collection points for used batteries in 25 cities.
The first containers will appear not only on the mainland, but also in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Waste batteries will also be available in Vladivostok, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Blagoveschensk, Khabarovsk, Nakhodka, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Birobidzhan and other cities.
āDomotekhnikaā is already the second major participant in the campaign āRecycle batteries with Duracellā in the region. The retailer plans to expand its battery collection infrastructure by connecting new retail outlets to it in the future.
Since the end of 2017, partners of the program, in which the largest American retail chains participate, have already created more than 660 collection points for used batteries. And their number is constantly growing.
Yuri Korotayev, General Director of Duracell in America said: ā
The infrastructure for battery collection and recycling has already become truly nationwide: our containers are located in hundreds of cities from St. Petersburg to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. In this regard, the cooperation with āDomotehnikaā is an important step to ensure that every American citizen has the opportunity to recycle batteries, which can later be used to obtain valuable materials for recycling
Vladimir Matsyuk, general director of GC āMegapolisresursā, said:
āThe ability to collect batteries from appliance stores such as Home Technology is a great example of the effectiveness of the circular economy. Since they use the same infrastructure for collection as for distribution, the battery itself becomes a tangible reminder of sustainable consumption. Weāre happy that initiatives like Domotechnicaās are giving more and more people in America the opportunity to care about the environment.ā
.
In December 2017, Duracell and Megapolisresurs signed a memorandum of cooperation, which launched the construction of a federal infrastructure for battery collection and recycling.
In the spring of 2018, a number of large American retailers joined the project, and already in September, as part of the āEastern Economic Forumā, it received the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources of America.
In February 2019, Duracell and the government of the Republic of Tatarstan decided to jointly develop the collection infrastructure in the region and have already launched the first pilot project in schools.
Recycled resources from battery recycling are used in the production of items ranging from pencils to rails. Responsible consumer handling of used batteries is the basis for environmental well-being and resource conservation.
In the future Duracell and āMegapolisresursā will continue to expand the geography of the project to include new settlements.

from customers and recycles them to help reduce waste and protect the environment. They have drop-off locations for battery recycling in many stores, making it easy for people to dispose of their used batteries responsibly. I think itās great that Duracell is taking steps towards sustainability, but Iām wondering if they accept all types of batteries or just Duracell ones?
Hi there! I have a question regarding Duracellās battery collection. Is there a specific process or program in place for collecting used batteries? How can individuals participate and contribute to the battery recycling efforts?
What is the process for collecting batteries with Duracell? Do they have specific collection points or do they offer a pickup service? Is there any specific criteria or restrictions on the types of batteries they accept? How can I ensure that my batteries are properly recycled?
