Also the first Cinema EOS camera to incorporate electronic image stabilization.

Superb full-frame image quality

The EOS C500 Mark II with full frame Canon 5.9K CMOS sensor gives you lifelike cinematic images with the faithful reproduction of skin tones and color for which Canon is renowned. With a 5.9K sensor and the new DIGIC DV 7 processor, the EOS C500 Mark II is perfect for creators of high-quality 4K content: it uses a de-bayerization algorithm to convert from 5.9K to 4K with oversampling. Moiré effects are suppressed and noise levels are reduced, yielding exceptional image quality. The EOS C500 Mark II with its 15+ adjustment range and wide color space is perfectly suited to work in an extended dynamic range. The camera also features a built-in full-frame motorized neutral filter module 2, 4, 6, 81 and 102 steps that produces images with a shallow depth of field even in daylight.

Productive recording and efficient workflows

Multiple recording options in a variety of formats enable the EOS C500 Mark II owner to build workflow efficiencies and meet all your video production challenges. With Canon’s new DIGIC DV 7 image processor, the camera supports Cinema RAW Light recording at 5.9K resolution to internal memory card. Cinema RAW Light format offers all the benefits of RAW file format in terms of post-processing flexibility, while creating high quality files of smaller size.

As well as recording to internal CFexpress cards in Canon XF-AVC 4K 4:2:2 10 bit resolution, simultaneous and proxy recording is possible. This provides unprecedented flexibility, allowing professional cameramen to choose the recording format that suits their workflow. The camera uses advanced 12G-SDI interface, with four times the transfer rate of 3G-SDI. 12G-SDI interface delivers 4K 50/60p output using a single cable, making it easy to work with 4K video. HDMI output for 4K 50/60p through a single cable is also available.

Cinematographers can configure the new camera with two different expansion units, EU-V1 and EU-V2. Optional EVF-V70 or EVF-V50 viewfinder can also be attached. Expansion module configurations and a compact, lightweight design give filmmakers additional flexibility.

The EU-V1 expansion module adds a Genlock/Sync BNC interface, a Remote B interface for the optional RC-V100 remote control and an Ethernet interface for online streaming or remote control via a browser. The EU-V2 expansion module adds two XLR inputs and a 12-pin lens interface in addition to these interfaces. In addition, it includes a V-Lock battery mount with D-tap port and 24V power output.

Stable shooting thanks to electronic image stabilization and advanced autofocus technology

EOS C500 Mark II is the first Cinema EOS camera with five-axis electronic image stabilization. When a data-transfer lens is attached, the system automatically receives the focal length information. But electronic image stabilization can also be used with a lens without data transfer by entering the focal length manually. In addition, the electronic image stabilization feature is also compatible with anamorphic lenses.

As with other cameras in the range, the EOS C500 Mark II boasts Canon’s renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. One-press high-speed autofocus and continuous autofocus give operators the certainty that the image will always remain clear. You can also use smooth and intuitive touch focus through the new LM-V2 LCD display and Dual Pixel Focus Guide feature that notifies you of the area of focus foreground or background , helping you control focus more precisely. The EOS C500 Mark II also features Face Detection AF and AF tracking for focus control in a variety of shooting conditions. For even finer autofocus adjustments, the camera allows you to set the speed and sensitivity of tracking.
