DESIGN FEATURES
BBK DK2711 HD home theater system consists of a laser disc player with signal scaling function to a quality comparable to HD, as well as a set of six speakers: two front channel speakers, two rear, one center and a subwoofer with a built-in multi-channel amplifier. A set of speakers is suitable for small rooms – the sound power is 25 watts in the low-frequency effects channel and 14 watts in all other channels.
The player is equipped with 12 bit video D/A converter and supports playback of DVD, VCD and SVCD, as well as disks with MPEG-4 video records. The audio processor provides 24-bit resolution sound from DVD-Audio, HDCD, and CD-DA. It also supports mp3, WMA and OGG Vorbis compression formats.
One of the purposes of this home theater is a karaoke, so the player supports playback of karaoke discs in DVD-Video, VCD CD+G formats. The set includes a microphone and a branded CD “Sing, soul” with 500 most popular songs in American, Azeri, Armenian, Belarusian, Georgian, Jewish, Kazakh, Latvian, Lithuanian, Tatar and Ukrainian languages. In addition, the disc contains some famous classic tunes.
SETTINGS AND FUNCTIONS
The player is equipped with BBK’s In`Ergo screen interface, specifically designed for BBK DVD technology, which is intuitive, so there are no problems with settings. Use it to adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, sharpness and gamma function of the image.
Also many sound settings, including seven types of echo effect – concert, living room, hall, bathroom, cave, arena, cathedral, and seven equalizer modes – rock, pop, live, dance, techno, classical and soft sound. In addition, you can adjust the tonal balance, level and delay of the audio in all the channels of the surround system.
SWITCHING POSSIBILITIES
Microphone for singing karaoke is connected to the jack, which is conveniently located on the front panel. Next to it there is a headphone jack. Adjusting the sound level in the headphone and microphone path is made with a remote and an on-screen interface.
The corresponding interface on the right side of the case is intended for connection of external data carriers with a USB-plug.
The main switching capabilities are provided by the connectors on the back of the player. This is a set of multichannel sound connectors 5.1 , analog stereo pair, as well as optical and coaxial interfaces for digital sound. Even more picture capabilities – component, S-Video and composite video outputs are on the rear panel. In addition, analog video, component RGB or composite CVBS signal can be output via SCART interface.
HDMI interface is intended for digital connection of sound and picture, with which you can transmit video and audio signals to HDTVs.
PICTURE AND SOUND
The player shows a very good picture even on the weakest of video channels, composite. If you use component video outputs, and preferably the digital interface HDMI, you can get a very clear, rich picture with the correct transfer of the color palette.
The situation with the sound is not so smooth. If you use regular acoustic kit, the most quality will be played frequencies of the middle of the sound range. Good, intelligible voices of actors and musical performers. This is good news for fans of karaoke. But for movie-lovers the sound capabilities of this set will most likely be insufficient, because the bass lacks resolution, especially in the transfer of low-frequency special effects – the subwoofer is not very noticeable in most episodes. The top is not detailed either, so the music does not sound as liberated as you would like it to.
