This new NIKKOR lens is the perfect choice for aspiring photographers who want to travel light and capture subjects from a variety of angles. The lens is truly universal. Nikonā€™s improved design makes the body incredibly compact without sacrificing image quality: ED glass elements and aspherical lenses produce sharp, high-contrast images, and Nikonā€™s Vibration Reduction System keeps photos and movies sharper ā€“ even when shooting handheld in the extreme telephoto position. With excellent performance and super telephoto support, this lens is ideal for amateur sports, wildlife, and travel photography.

Zurab Kiknadze, manager of lenses, accessories and software at Nikon Europe, notes: ā€œThe NIKKOR lens lineup has many great models that perform best when shooting certain subjects or scenes. But when it comes to choosing the right lens, you often have to compromise between versatility, size and price.

You can forget about compromises with the new NIKKOR 18-300mm lens. Designed for amateurs who want a flexible lens with the same focal range as the DX-format zoom lens with a focal length of 18-300mm available today, but with a smaller and more affordable footprint. The new NIKKOR super-telephoto zoom lens at 18-300 mm perfectly complements Nikonā€™s lineup of zoom lenses, showcasing all the benefits of DX-format handheld equipment.ā€.

Excellent remote shooting capabilities, compact size

Powerful AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3 zoom lens.5-6.3G ED VR lets you zoom in and shoot almost any subject or scene, and its compact design makes it a great lens for those who want to travel with a minimum of gear. The versatile 16.7 magnification ratio allows you to shoot at a wide range of focal lengths, from wide-angle to super-telephoto 35mm format equivalent: 27-450mm .

It makes it easy to take pictures in a wide variety of conditions: group shots, vast landscapes and cityscapes, sports reports, wildlife ā€“ all from any angle. The innovative optical and mechanical design of this maximally compact and flexible lens made it possible to reduce the size of the body without sacrificing image quality. By reducing the aperture value at the maximum telephoto position to f/6.3, Nikon engineers were able to create a more compact body than the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. The smaller and lighter NIKKOR VR 18-300mm perfectly suits photographersā€™ needs: a powerful, versatile and more affordable lens that can be taken everywhere and used to capture any subject.

Smooth and clear

This super-telephoto zoom lens features Nikonā€™s Vibration Reduction System, which delivers sharp, clear images for both wide-angle group portraits in low-light conditions and distant zoom subjects. It also gives you extra clarity when shooting handheld and allows you to use slower shutter speeds without worrying about blur caused by camera shake.

The Vibration Reduction Optical System VR also stabilises the viewfinder image and improves autofocus and framing accuracy, especially at longer focal lengths in the 300mm zoom range. In addition, this lens features Nikonā€™s silent ultrasonic motor SWM , which provides fast, accurate and quiet autofocus throughout the extended zoom range and intuitive manual fine-tuning.

Superb optical performance

The optical design of the new NIKKOR VR 18-300mm zoom lens has 16 elements in 12 groups and delivers excellent results with DX-format digital SLR cameras that support high-resolution shooting. Three ED glass elements and three aspherical lenses effectively reduce the risk of aberrations that can occur with super telephoto zoom lenses: Nikonā€™s ultra-low dispersion ED glass elements reduce chromatic aberration even at maximum aperture, while the aspherical lens elements virtually eliminate other types of aberrations.

Incredibly lightweight zoom lens

Weight of the lens AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.The 3G ED VR is only 550g, which makes it very lightweight compared to other lenses with the same focal length range. In addition, this lens model is equipped with a sealed bayonet as well as a zoom lock switch that prevents ā€œspontaneous extension of the zoomā€ moving the lens under its own weight when tilted during transport and allows you to keep its compact dimensions when the lens is not in use.

This lens seems to offer a wide range of focal lengths, but Iā€™m curious to know how well it performs at both ends of the zoom range. Does it maintain image quality and sharpness throughout, or are there any noticeable compromises when shooting at the extremes of wide-angle and super-telescopic?
