Winners and shortlists for the Sony World Photography Awards 2021 Open have been announced

The World Photography Organization has announced the names of the winners and the shortlist for the Sony World Photography Awards 2021 Open, featuring the best single works created in 2020. More than 100 photographers were shortlisted for the 2021 competition along with winners in each of the ten categories. This year’s Open Competition was judged by Gaston DeLeo Gast&oacute n Deleau, Director of FOLA Museum of Contemporary Art, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

, A woman surrounded by hundreds of stalls of dried fish at the Long Hai fish market in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vung Tau, Vietnam. As the shot was taken from above, the fish in the trays form a big mosaic pattern, and the woman seems to be weaving it all together.

The winner in each category will receive the latest digital equipment from Sony to further their creativity, and will compete for the prestigious title of “Open Photographer of the Year”, as well as a five thousand dollar prize.

Winner of the Open will be announced April 15. The winning entries and short-listed photos will be featured in a virtual exhibition and will be available for viewing on the World Photography Organization website beginning April 15, 2021.

“Photographer of the Year” in the Open competition, as well as the winners of the Sony World Photography Awards 2021 Professional, Student and Youth competitions, will be announced on April 15 on the World Photography Organization’s online platforms.
