Easy access to working data in a new generation lightweight device
Wearable like regular glasses and weighing only 50 grams. They are designed to be worn for long periods of time without discomfort or damage to eyesight. An optical system developed by Toshiba projects data, text and color images onto the right lens of the Wearvue at a scale of 1:1. The clear right glass has a thin mirror coating so that the data can be seen clearly without obstructing the view. The lightweight projector fits comfortably on the wishbone. It connects to a video source and, if needed, an extra battery pack, which can be kept in a breast pocket of the uniform.
The device features adjustable projection angle to suit each person’s ergonomics. The development used data from biometric studies conducted by Japanese scientists, making the glasses comfortable for 98 percent of adults.
Applications for Wearvue run on the Windows operating system, so the glasses support a wired connection with Windows devices during operation. A toolkit for application developers will be available on the company’s official website on February 29 only Japanese available so far .
Toshiba Corp. will continue to develop wearable smart devices to help professionals in various fields with their daily work.
