Complementing its comprehensive lineup of original E-type full-frame lenses, Sony announces the new FE 20mm F1.8 G LensTM SEL20F18G .
Building on the superb resolution and bokeh of its G Lens Series, the FE 20mm F1.8 G is a compact and lightweight ultra-wide-angle prime lens – the widest full-frame E lens in its class – giving Sony full-frame camera users more freedom to capture stunning landscapes and night scenes as well as dramatic video.
Original lens design incorporates two advanced aspherical elements and three ED glass elements to effectively suppress chromatic aberration and deliver high image quality throughout the frame, even with the F1.8 aperture fully open. This lens delivers great close-up photography performance with a minimum focus distance of 0.19m max. magnification: 0.2 and delivers beautiful bokeh effect.
The FE 20mm F1.8 G’s compact size and versatility make it the ideal all-round lens for photographers and videographers. The small size and weight of only 373 g makes it easy to use with compact E-mount cameras as part of a well-balanced system, ideal for hanging or with optional grips.
In addition, the use of two linear XD-drives provides a fast, accurate and silent autofocus for shooting both stills and video. The FE 20mm F1.8 G lens is highly reliable and easy to handle, thanks to its built-in dust and moisture protectioni and fluoride coating. It has an adjustable contextual button for locking the focus and an iris ring, which works in two modes: click and silently. This is also compatible with a variety of 67mm filters for creative shooting.
“One of the key points of our lens development strategy is that we listen to the wishes of our customers, as well as the community of landscape photographers who use our E bayonet system to shoot and ask for an ultra-wide-angle prime lens that is both compact, lightweight and versatile” says Yann Salmon Legagneur, Director of Product Marketing, Digital Imaging, Sony Europe. “We believe the new SEL20F18G lens hits the mark with its combination of image quality, portability, superior autofocus performance and price. It’s an important addition to our lineup of lenses, as it supports both full-frame and APS-C format cameras.”
