Sony showcased its full suite of digital imaging applications at Photokina 2016 September 20-25 to give photographers and videographers from around the world the opportunity to experience the latest creative tools to help them realize their visions.
In addition to the full line of equipment on display, Sony gave visitors to KoelnMesse Cologne Exhibition Center the opportunity to participate in a program of discussions and demonstrations that took place during the show at the Sony booth. During these discussions, global celebrities in photography and videography shared their insights as well as their personal and professional experiences with Sony cameras and lenses.
As part of this program a number of shows were held, including performances of mastering a samurai sword, breakdancing professionals and acrobats, where visitors were invited to take pictures of the show participants.

Presented at Photokina 2016 and demonstrated for the first time in the world, the ɑ99 II is the flagship model of Sony’s A-mounted ɑ series. Equipped with an innovative hybrid phase-autofocus system with 79 precision hybrid cross sensorsi, and delivering continuous shooting at up to 12 frames per second,ii the ɑ99 II was destined to be the company’s highlight at Photokina 2016.
Sony is also showcasing its full range of ɑ cameras and lenses with E mount, including the award-winning ɑ7 series and the extremely popular ɑ6300 ɑ6000 models. The complete lineup of interchangeable lenses in the ɑ Mount system was also introduced, including the recently released top-of-the-line Sony G Master Series and the latest SELP18110G and SEL50M28 lenses with E mount.
Announced at IFA 2016, the new flagship FDR-X3000R action camera also took its place at the Sony booth at Photokina 2016. This model is the first in its class to use the built-in Balanced Optical SteadyShot B.O.SS , and at the same time provides the ability to capture stunning 4K video.
For compact camera enthusiasts, the RX series has proven incredibly popular since the launch of the first RX100 in 2012. At Photokina 2016, Sony unveiled the entire RX100, RX10 and RX1 product families of all generations.
Celebration of partnership anniversaries
2016 marks 20 years of collaboration between Sony and ZEISS© To co-develop and bring to market products for image creation and processing. A special exhibit has been prepared for the Sony booth to showcase the most famous models that are the fruits of this partnership.
By its tenth year, the Sony World Photography Awards had become the largest photographic competition in the world, so part of the Sony booth was a vibrant gallery of the 2016 winning images.
