To the buyer who values moderation and adequacy above bragging rights, Sony is ready to offer the exceptionally attractive HX20V Universal Compact. The unit is only equipped with a less powerful zoom and deprived of a flip-up display, but this has reduced the cost of the device by 20% and halved the weight.
18.2 MP 25-500 20x 3″ $410
254 grams is not a fluffy weight, but it’s already much easier to carry. The loss in performance is really quite small. The lens has lost ten times its zoom and offers a range of 25mm to 500mm. Hardly anyone can sincerely complain that it is not enough. The sensor is the same – an advanced 18-megapixel Exmor R with backlighting. Accordingly, there are fast shooting up to 10 fps, high-definition and high-speed video in AVCHD format, additional modes like automatic creation of panoramas and stereo photos “wired” or imitation of a small focal point effect by combining two images.
Although the display can not rotate, pleases the eye with high clarity. The GPS receiver remains. Here it’s more than justified, as the HX20V is in fact the perfect traveler’s compact.
I’ve read your review of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20V and it seems like a great compact camera. Can you please provide more information on the image quality? How does it perform in low light conditions and does it have any advanced shooting modes or features? Thank you!
