New flagship flash HVL-F60RM with Guide Number 60 coming soon to America

Sony has introduced a new flagship HVL-F60RM flash model to complete its family of digital photography equipment. Given the needs of an ever-increasing number of professional photographers who are switching to the Sony α system, the HVL-F60RM offers high flash output, reliable continuous shooting and advanced control capabilities with built-in radio controls.

The HVL-F60RM has a guide number of 60 and covers a range of angles from 20mm to 200mm, providing even shadow-free lighting in a wide zoom range and up to 220v of flash for continuous shooting. Using heat-resistant materials and new advanced algorithms, the flash is 4x as hotter than its predecessor, the HVL-F60M.

Further improvements have been made to the recharging time, which has been reduced to 1.7 secondsv or just 0.6 secondsv when using the new external battery adapter product code FA-EBA1 . The feature set once again includes Quick Shift Bounce, a stellar feature of previous Sony flashes that allows the photographer to quickly switch from horizontal camera orientation to vertical camera orientation, rotating the flash head 90 degrees left or right, up to 150 degrees up and 8 degrees down for easy positioning and optimal lighting in a wide variety of scenes.

Independent light output level buttons LEVEL -/+ for direct control of output or compensation, perfect for effective shooting. Full display information makes it easy to set and confirm flash output level, and provides intuitive access to output level settings for a pair of paired wirelessly-controlled flash units. Arbitrary assignment of functions to the flash’s four-button multi controller, center button and jog wheel for quick access as needed. What’s more, the TTL output level can be memorized and recalled manually for immediate use or use after minor adjustments. Another feature that can simplify manual operation and save time.

A dust- and waterproof design allows the HVL-F60RM to be used even in harsh environments, and a new, separately available rain cover FA-RG1 minimises the chance of water dripping inside the flash and camera. Another example of the HVL-F60RM’s meticulous attention to detail is the metal base of the Multi Interface Shoe™, which has been redesigned to reduce breakage and increase reliability.

The wireless radio link required for modern studio equipment is non-directional, so receiving flashes can be set up anywhere up to about 30 meters from the camera, even with reflectors and other obstacles that prevent optical linkage. The HVL-F60RM flash unit on a compatible camera functions as a transmitter and can be used with other stand-alone units that act as receivers. Multiple flash units are supported and the user can fire up to 15 flashes, which can form up to 5 groups, or wirelessly control the flashes, and using the pairing system prevents interference from other electronic devices.

In addition to Auto White Balance, which automatically corrects color based on scene lighting, it comes with standard amber and green filters that can be used to match or complement existing lighting to achieve natural white balance or create a special atmosphere.

Availability

The new HVL-F60RM flash unit, the FA-EBA1 external battery adapter, and the FA-RG1 rain protection will be available in America in April 2018.
