Mini overview of Vivitek Qumi Q5 LED Mini Media Projector

Just a few years ago it was hard to imagine that projectors can be carried in your pocket. Micro projectors are now firmly in their niche. And in this market, the Qumi Q5 has a lot to offer.

Qumi Q5 – projector with a bright design, in the truest sense of the word. Choose from five different colors – white, yellow, red, navy blue and black. The device literally fits in the palm of your hand, its dimensions are 160x100x31 mm and weighs only 490 g.

The Qumi Q5 doesn’t require a bulb replacement, as it uses a LED module with up to 30,000 hours of runtime as its light source. And for a pocket-sized LED model, the device has a rather high power – 500 ANSI-Lm. And in terms of matrix resolution – WXGA – the projector is not inferior to larger and heavier devices. It is able to receive and play HD-quality 720p files without distortion.

The model is equipped with built-in memory capacity of 4 GB, so it can project files without external sources. Nevertheless the set of connectors for cable connections is impressive. Despite its diminutive size, the Qumi Q5 is equipped with a full-fledged HDMI input for HD signal transmission, as well as a 24-pin Universal I/O and a composite RCA. The built-in 2W speaker is powerful enough to play audio for a small group of viewers. In addition, the device supports displaying files from a “flash drive” – videos, music, photos, and even PDF documents and MS Office. You can also connect an optional Wi-Fi adapter via the USB port and use it to send content wirelessly.

Qumi Q5 is mains-powered, but it is available with an optional battery that attaches to the case and enables the projector to work autonomously for 100 minutes. The luminous flux of the model will be lower than in normal operation – 150 ANSI-Lm.

It is noteworthy that Qumi Q5 supports displaying 3D content from a personal computer. However, in order to see video or images in three dimensions, you need to buy additional 3D glasses.
