K-Osmos in your home – an overview of reverse osmosis water purifier

The water purification technology based on the reverse osmosis phenomenon makes it possible to obtain the maximum possible degree of purification from practically all impurities. The high quality is maintained over the entire recommended filter element life cycle.

Tap water is cleaned in four stages. The first two are pre-treatment to protect the membrane, the basic element of the water purifier, from mechanical and chemical stresses.

CONSUMER ANALYSIS

The water purification technology based on the reverse osmosis phenomenon achieves the highest possible degree of purification against almost all types of impurities. The high quality is maintained over the entire recommended service life of the filter elements.

The tap water has four cleaning stages. The first two are used for water pre-treatment to protect the main element of the water purifier – the membrane – from mechanical and chemical loads. Filter element of the 1st stage sprayed polypropylene retains particles up to 10 microns in size, and even smaller mechanical impurities up to 5 microns are retained in the 2nd stage – in the cells of the well developed inner surface of the block of compressed activated carbon, besides the carbon, which has excellent adsorptive properties, purifies water from chlorine, organic and organochlorine compounds. Then water under high pressure passes through reverse osmosis membrane which acts like cell walls of living organisms, letting through only particles that are commensurate with water molecules and leaving outside almost all organic impurities, hardness salts, toxic metals. No pathogens will pass through it, because the diameter of the membrane pores is about 0.0001 microns, which is 200 times smaller than the size of viruses and 4000 times smaller than the size of bacteria.

Part of the water is pumped along the surface of the membrane, promoting self-cleaning, and then the impurities are washed down the drain. After deep cleaning water enters the storage tank, allowing to compensate a low speed of water penetration through the membrane, to have a clean water at any time. Filling time of the storage tank depends on the pressure in the cold water supply line and is 2 hours at a pressure of 3 atm. and 1 hour at 6 atm. The optimum volume of the storage tank, corresponding to the average daily consumption rate of drinking water, has been determined by preliminary studies.

After the storage tank, the water, after passing through a silver-impregnated activated carbon in order to reach bacteriostatic properties, is cleaned of odors and unpleasant taste and afterwards conveyed to an additional tap for drinking water.

Operation: The small dimensions of the filter elements and their compact arrangement in a single housing allow the entire water purifier including the storage tank to fit into a cabinet under the kitchen sink. The length of the connecting pipes is long enough to accommodate the water purifier, drinking water faucet and storage tank in the most convenient way. Tight connections between the filter elements of the water purifier and the storage tank allows you to store purified water for several days.

– is, above all, the timely replacement of the filter elements. Thanks to the balanced volume and composition of the filter elements in each cleaning stage the whole set can be replaced at once. It must be said that this approach to the maintenance of the reverse osmosis system was implemented for the first time in the world. Used today everywhere staged replacement of filter elements once every six months – change prefilter, once a year and a half – postfilter, every one and a half to two years – the membrane costs a lot of operating costs, which the consumer believes that such a state of affairs is the only possible, forced to put up with. METTEM-Technology has managed to take a new look at this problem, which allowed to reduce the total cost of ownership of reverse osmosis water purifier.

The replacement procedure itself is simple and fast as their smart fixing mechanism with the original slide connectors allows you to do without tools and special devices. And to avoid leaks when replacing the filter elements the appliance is equipped with a special retractable tray to collect liquid. The intervals for changing the filter elements depend on the average daily water consumption.

To remind about the date of replacement on the label of the filter element of the 3rd stage there are boxes, in which you can enter the date of installation and replacement. In addition, it is possible to avoid having to remember the date of replacement at all: the automatic service on the promotion website of the water purifier k-osmos will remind you of this at the right time by sending an e-mail. However, regardless of the amount of water purified the maximum life of the filter element set can not exceed 12 months of use.
