At just 195 g and with a retractable lens mechanism, this lens is very compact and convenient. The 3x zoom covers the popular 18-55mm focal length range and is ideal for a wide variety of situations. The optical design delivers sharp, high-contrast images and HD movies, and Nikon’s Vibration Reduction System lets you capture even sharper shots than before.

Zurab Kiknadze, Lens, Accessories and Software Marketing Manager at Nikon Europe, said: “The AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm VR II has been opening the door for new Nikon DSLR buyers to the world of NIKKOR optics for years. To meet the needs of a wider audience, it is important to always maintain the affordability, versatility and image quality of this lens.

Significantly more compact and lighter than its predecessor, the new AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm VR II lens meets these criteria and takes them to the next level, offering improved image quality without sacrificing affordability and versatility.”

Everyday Life

From beautiful portraits to noisy events, the versatile AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm VR II zoom lens is the easiest way to capture the best moments. Compact and lightweight, it gives your HD photos and videos rich color and excellent sharpness.

The 3x optical zoom offers a versatile range of focal lengths from wide-angle to medium telephoto, suitable for any scene, from landscapes and interiors to portraits and distant events. A great lens for walking around when you want to be lightweight.

Vibration reduction

Despite its compact size, this lens incorporates VR II’s Vibration Reduction System to produce sharp images whether you’re shooting a wide-angle group portrait at dusk or zooming in to capture distant subjects. Designed to make handheld shooting easier, Nikon’s Vibration Reduction technology enables faster shutter speeds of up to 4 units without blur caused by camera shake.

In low light, the camera often uses slower shutter speeds, but with Vibration Reduction you can get sharp shots without a tripod or flash. You also get sharper shots when zooming in on distant subjects or when shooting at super close distances.

Made for the digital age

The AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm VR II lens is designed to meet the demands of digital photography and deliver great results with every shot. The optical design consists of 11 elements in eight groups and the aspherical lens element greatly reduces spherical aberration and other optical distortions, ensuring you get the sharpest, sharpest images possible.

Nikon’s silent ultrasonic SWM motor delivers quiet, fast, and accurate autofocus, especially important when shooting movies.

Ultraportability

A truly lightweight lens weighing only 195 g that won’t weigh you down when you travel. The lens is only 76 mm long in the extended position. What’s more, it has a retracting mechanism that reduces the length to just 59.5 mm. Compact, lightweight and versatile, this is the perfect everyday lens for photographers just getting started with DSLRs.
