Caring for the environment and the health of the user – the new generation of Husqvarna machinery

Everyone has known since childhood that summer is the time to gather strength and gain energy for the colder months ahead. That’s why city dwellers tend to spend every spare minute outdoors in the heat of the moment. Ideally in your own backyard. But not everyone realises that the “freshness” of a cottage depends as much on the proximity of the forest as on the quality of the gardening equipment used on the site.

A favorable environmental background is the main value in rural life. But not all homeowners with garden areas take into account that garden tools can also be a serious source of pollution. Faced with this problem Husqvarna specialists have developed a number of innovative technologies that significantly reduce or eliminate the harmful effects of the machine.

Gasoline engines are rightfully considered the most productive of all engine types. And gardeners often give them the preference. At the same time, the gasoline engine is a powerful source of exhaust fumes from the combustion process. When they’re outdoors, the fumes they release can be extremely harmful to the environment and the health of the user.

That fact has led Husqvarna engineers to think about the development of a more environmentally friendly gasoline engine. The result is the patented X-Torq technology. Thanks to a simple but effective solution, the exhaust emission in such engines has been reduced by 70%. This is accomplished by forcing poisonous products of incomplete combustion into the muffler with clean, ambient air instead of a new batch of fuel mixture. These air portions contribute to afterburning of combustion products and create a “plug” between what is supposed to come out as an exhaust and a fresh portion of the fuel mixture. So the exhaust is no longer hazardous to the environment and to humans.

But the X-Torq is not the only Husqvarna achievement. Another technology that can keep gardeners out of harm’s way is battery-powered devices. Until recently, such a decision was not taken seriously due to the low power of such tools. But in 2012, the company has created its first high-capacity 3.0 amp lithium-ion battery.h with 36 volts. Combined with the latest Husqvarna engines this makes cordless machines a truly efficient tool that matches its gasoline counterparts in terms of performance.

Naturally, the main advantage of this type of garden tool is that there are no harmful exhaust emissions. This environmentally friendly appliance is absolutely safe for the user and his family members, which is especially important when working for long periods of time. But there are other benefits. So, cordless models are less bulky and easier to maintain. Using them, the user does not have to worry about starting the engine with a cord and does not have to worry about the preparation of fuel mixture or oil changes. And they’re safer too, with no risk of accidentally cutting the power cord. Cordless equipment can also be used in places where there is no possibility of connecting to the electricity grid. For example, in remote corners of the garden or when traveling.

And thanks to their unique technology the new Husqvarna rechargeable batteries can be used for up to 45 minutes continuously in an energy-saving mode.

The developers have also ensured that they can be used for as long as required, despite the limited capacity. The fact that Husqvarna batteries are universal and fit any model. So one battery can be used with several devices at the same time. And with two batteries they can be installed alternately. With Husqvarna’s fast charger the battery can be charged in 30 minutes. And the equipment stays “on the go” for as long as you need it.
