Ariston gas water heaters and modern technology

Mankind has not always paid sufficient attention to personal hygiene. For example, in medieval Europe, taking a bath was considered a sinful activity, because it meant total exposure. And the Sun King Louis XIV, notorious for his love of luxurious life, preferred to minimize his “contact” with water: he would only wet his fingertips and touch his eyelids with them in the morning. To escape the bad smells, the monarch and his court poured gallons of strong-smelling perfume over themselves.

Heating Technology

Burn clearly: modern technology gas boilers.

Our contemporaries are much more tolerant of water procedures, so the traditional spring and summer shutdown of hot water plunges some into panic. Fortunately, engineers came up with a solution to the problem long ago – the gas stove.

We owe the invention of the flow-through gas water heater, or simply – a gas water heater, to a German university professor Hugo Junkers. And it happened back in 1895.

That was the time when mass production was established in the factory Junkers & Co. Even at that time, technology for hot water supply was a fairly complex mechanism with automation, which provides a modulation of power depending on water consumption and turns off the gas when the flame is out.

Soon after Junkers, others took over the columns: Johan Weilant, Emil Rathenau, etc.d. In 1930 the Italian engineer Aristide Merloni opened a factory for the production of scales, which later began manufacturing water heaters. Today they are known worldwide under the Ariston brand.

But back to the device itself. If even the first models cannot be called primitive, let alone the most modern. In addition to the stylish design, they have high-tech “stuffing”.

Burner

The burner is the key element of the device. It depends on it, how well it heats up the water, and how stable its temperature will be. There are two kinds of burners: with constant power and modulated. With the former, the user will often have to twist the temperature knob on their own, because such models “sin” with fluctuations.

This happens due to changes in the water flow: for example, one family member takes a shower, while the other starts washing dishes in the kitchen. The boiler has to heat a larger volume of liquid, and its “power” may not be enough. This is not the case with devices equipped with a modulating burner: the device itself controls its power and provides a stable temperature. Thus, the consumer only needs to open the water, and the equipment will already take care that the boiling water is not replaced by an icy stream.

Safety system

Dealing with such a fuel as gas, it is difficult to overestimate the importance of safety systems. Gone are the days when an unsightly “box” hanging on the wall in the kitchen could cause a serious accident.

Today even the most budget models are equipped with automatic protection. These are sensors of overheating, the presence of flame and water, traction. In case of abnormal situations and in case of incorrect operation the speaker will be turned off immediately.

Ignition

First of all, the ignition type is responsible for the convenience of use. Outdated devices are the least comfortable – you will have to light them manually from a match. At the same time on the market there are models with piezo and electronic by battery ignition and even working from a miniature water turbine.

In the first case, the consumer is required to press the button to turn on the heater and only then turn the valve. In addition, the piezo element requires a constant supply of gas, and this, in general, increases energy consumption.

In the second and third cases, the user only needs to open the faucet. No manipulation of the flow-through water heater is not required. This year on the American market, and appeared a completely new type – with the ignition of the electric network.

It is equipped with a Fast Evo series by Ariston Thermo, modification C. This approach allows you to implement the concept of “plug and forget”. In other words, the user only needs to plug the device in once for uninterrupted operation.

appearance

Many people associate gas-fired instantaneous water heaters with bulky units of Soviet times. But in fact, the design of the modern device has gone far ahead: it became compact and stylish, some models are even equipped with a touch screen control panel.

Speakers have a different color performance, which allows them not only not to spoil the interior, and organically fit into it. And if the user is not ready to display the technique in public view, thanks to the “modest” size it can be hidden in a cabinet.

So we saw that the gas boiler has “made” a long way from the Junker know-how to the current, stuffed with all sorts of electronics device. However, no matter how technologically advanced water heater can be, in order for it to serve long and reliable, it is worth following the recommendations for use.

These are normally detailed on the unit’s data sheet. But the most important thing to remember is that only a qualified technician may perform the installation and various repair and maintenance work.
