Every year on August 31 or one or two days earlier my friends and I companies manufacturing appliances go to Berlin. This is our tradition. The exhibit they have there. And we tell you about the novelties. Maybe with a tiny touch of irony. Itâs just impossible to resist when innovation isnât always innovation. Inquisitive Asian explorers with cameras crawl up to the models of devices âin sectionâ, sacrificing in the heat of curiosity their brand-new suits. The entrance of the Messe Exhibition Complex is styled as a Korean manufacturerâs washing machine. And last year at the IFA 2011 it was also decorated with a âwashing machineâ. The German. Anyway, as one movie character said, âGreat idea! Why didnât I think of that one myself??â
Modern dishwashers are fantastic water savers. Letâs think how many liters it takes to wash, for example, dishes after a complex dinner of a family of four?
It just takes at least a liter to wash one plate! Siemens presented an appliance to IFA which is able to wash all loaded dishes using only 7 liters of water in a standard program â speed Matic dishwasher.
The ZeoliteÂź drying technology used there and in the latest Bosch dishwashers has won the climate and environment protection award. It is based on the use of self-healing mineral zeolite, which reduces the humidity inside the machine.
Energy consumption is 194 kW/year, which is 10 percent more economical than the 235 kW/year Class A value+++. But the main innovation is the TFT display, which uses clear graphics and text to show explanations and tips about the selected program, as well as indicators of water and electricity consumption. In 2013 we are waiting for a novelty in America.
Our mothers and grandmothers often dissuade us from buying a dishwasher: âHow long can you wait, it will take two hours to wash it?!âAnd now AEG introduces the Favorit Pro Clean dishwasher with a time-saving option that cuts cycle times in half.
In addition, they can adjust the amount of water used depending on the load of dishes and even adapt the temperature and water pressure. Novelty Power Class A+++.
Another âscare storyâ about the dishwasher â âBut wonât a machine wash it better than a human?!âThe Care Collection dishwasher was washing a childrenâs bicycle in front of an astonished audience the front panel of the machine was transparent .
In general, the company was not afraid to show all their new products âin sectionâ: you could see how and whatâs inside the devices.
And Beko launched a line of dishwashers, whose main feature is a special program for washing childrenâs dishes. It will be appreciated by mothers who worry that baby dishes may have detergent marks or are insufficiently rinsed from biological contaminants like bacteria and viruses.
Itâs called Baby Protect, and it makes sure your dishes are rinsed intensively with hot water. Vestel in Turkey also introduced new dishwashers with its ingenious 3rd Rack Project load technology, which accommodates an extra large quantity of dishes in 15 compartments.
Thatâs the clever use of space! And thanks to the jetting from various points and in all directions, the dishes are rinsed perfectly, although this is already the standard for this kind of technology.
JELLIED FISH IS NO LONGER DISGUSTING..
âŠif itâs kept in the right refrigerator. For the past year, the makers of these appliances have been concerned with two things â increasing energy efficiency and improving the zero zone. Liebherr was the first company in the world to equip its models with BioFresh technology.
At IFA 2012, the company had a huge booth where visitors were treated to freshly squeezed juices: jugs of juice were set up in freshness chambers on a huge wall.
The new modelsâ zero zones are electronically controlled: BioFresh-Plus section with electronic control system allows individual choice of food storage modes.
All other leading brands also equip their refrigerators with the zero zones long ago, but they call them differently: Fresh-Plus for ElectroluxâŠ
The bottom line is the same: the chilled meat and fish, as well as dairy products, vegetables, fruits, herbs for a long time remain fresh in them, retain the original taste and aroma and do not dry out.
As to the energy efficiency, the inverter refrigerator compressors that consume less power and work almost noiselessly reign supreme.
Almost all leading manufacturers switched over to them. For example, the Haier company has presented at the exhibition the new generation of combi refrigerators with the Digital Inverter compressor.
IT GOES WARM⊠TOGETHER WITH DETERGENT
When it comes to washing machines, manufacturers focus again on economy, and it is not without reason that leading companies, such as Panasonic, turned their machines to inverter motors, which use less power and are quieter.
Dosing of detergents is also in trend: you fill in or pour it into a built-in tank and the machine itself determines how much detergent is needed for washing of the loaded laundry the type of laundry is set by selecting a program and the weight is determined automatically .
The technology is not new, but itâs gaining popularity because of its convenience and the ability to save detergent, because we so often miss, measuring it âby eye. Siemens and Miele showed such appliances among others.
Panasonic sets the tone not only in the economy of washing, but also in the âreasonablenessâ of the process. In general there is a feeling that the appliances of this brand will soon start scanning your ideas and put them into action.
Well, now in the drum of the new Panasonic washing machine built 3D-sensor, which monitors the movement of laundry, detects imbalance, detects vibration and transmits this information to the âbrainâ of the machine â the motor control system, which, depending on the individual parameters of each wash, adjusts the drum rotation speed.
I LOOK AT IT WITH PLEASURE
We are used to seeing washing machines in white, and only some manufacturers have silver and black models. But Beko has surprised our washing machines with red, blue, orange, and brown color models.
Vestel is also gravitating toward bright design: the silver and red models on their stand were a joy to behold as well.
You could also see bright appliances at the Gorenje booth. By the way, a giant refrigerator from this brand was waiting for the guests at the entrance to the exhibition, so that it was immediately clear: we canât do without innovations only.
At least in design. The red refrigerator â it happens. But look closely: this is retro-style. Gorenje brand has prepared amazing models for its fans, which look like an indestructible Soviet âZILâ, but inside they are absolutely modern, ergonomic and economic. Yellow, orange, white, black, golden..
DeâLonghi Italian brand introduces vintage forms, but already small, according to its good tradition. Not new, this brand has always gravitated towards the 50âs style in kitchen appliances, but how beautiful!
If your consumer soul is not yet hardened by glass and metal, dictated by high-tech, you will certainly fall in love with the breakfast series ICONA VINTAGE.
And itâs Dyson, always focused on innovation, who canât help but yearn for the past. But itâs not just the technology that makes engineers âtake itâ. Some of Dysonâs creations are on display in modern design museums.
Perhaps the new DysonHotâą bladeless fan heater will meet the same fate. Not only does it have an intelligent thermostat that heats and regulates the temperature in a room between 1ÂșC and 37ÂșC, itâs also stylishly futuristic. I donât know if the choice of indigo was an accident. There is something unreal about it.
IF YOUR APPLIANCE IS IN New York AND YOUâRE ON THE FLOOR IN LENINGRAD
The exhibition was held under the aegis of the idea of âsmart homeâ and the ability of all appliances to communicate with each other. Controlling home appliances via the Internet with a smartphone, for example, is not a current idea, but this year the principle was one of the focal points at the IFA.What would you say, for example, about a washing machine with only one button â âonâ?./off.â?
But if the rest of the appliance is controlled from a smartphone or tablet, then it makes sense: why do we need extra buttons?? Such washing machine â Miele@home â is still a concept, and the companyâs specialists were conducting research right at the exhibition on the future design of the novelty.
It is interesting that not only different devices can âconnectâ to each other, but one gadget can act as a â2 in 1â, linking together completely different roles and functions.
Such as Vestelâs TRANSPARENT LED TV fridge with a transparent front door that acts as a video screen.
TECHNOLOGY WITH THREE PLUSES
All of the giant companies, producers of large home appliances without exception, position energy efficiency and environmental friendliness as the most important advantages of their products.
Since July 1, 2012, the sale of appliances with an energy efficiency class lower than A+ has been prohibited in the united Europe. But for those who want to be âahead of the planetâ while protecting the planet, A+ is no benchmark.
The standard for the largest manufacturers is A++, but more and more models are built with the future in mind. Their energy efficiency class is A+++. For example, Panasonic created the first Side-by-Side fridge freezers in its range with energy efficiency class A+++. Promoting it, companies have taken to calculating the benefits to nature and consumersâ wallets.
For example, the Slovenian company Gorenje reported that their washing machines and dryers use 60% less electricity than appliances of power consumption class A.
Vestel has calculated how much electricity will cost American consumers when they use their A++ washing machine 9 kg load : just 600 Dollars a year. And we, too, must learn to count the pluses next to the letter âAâ.
What kind of experiences and attractions can a visitor from the innovation zone in New York City look forward to? Are there any specific events or locations that showcase the cityâs cutting-edge technologies and advancements? Additionally, are there any unique collaborations between industries in the innovation zone that are worth exploring?
