AF-S DX NIKKOR telephoto lenses for all landscapes and portraits

On June 14, Nikon introduced two new NIKKOR lenses, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR.

AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, a wide-angle super telephoto DX format lens with variable focal length and VR vibration reduction technology.

With its unique 16.7x zoom and an incredibly wide focal range from 18mm to 300mm , this is a great all-round lens for photographers with a wide range of interests.

AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.The 5G ED VR is designed with a special focus on compactness in the FX-format zoom class, and is ideal for those who need a lens for every day, suitable for capturing a wide variety of events and subjects.

The range of focal lengths from 24 to 85 mm is sufficient for most subjects. You’ll be able to shoot everything from landscapes to portraits with the same lens.

Nikon has produced its seventy-millionth NIKKOR lens

By early June 2012. The total number of NIKKOR lenses for interchangeable lens cameras exceeds the seventy million mark. This figure is five million higher than the previous milestone of sixty-five million taken in October 2011.

Also of note is that the total number of AF-S lenses produced with the silent ultrasonic motor SWM – a Nikon-developed motor for the autofocus system – has reached 30 million.

Thirty million NIKKOR lenses become silent

Silent Ultrasonic Motor SWM is an autofocus motor developed by Nikon. Nikon SWM motor converts running waves into rotational energy used to focus the optical system.

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3 5-5 5-4 8D IF-ED in 1996, which delivers an exceptionally smooth, quiet and easy-to-use autofocus performance. One of the first Nikon lenses to feature a SWM motor was the Ai AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8D IF-ED, which saw the light of day in 1996.

Since then, the SWM motor has found use in 58* lenses ranging from ultra-wide-angle to super telephoto DX- and FX-format lenses, zoom lenses and even micro lenses. It is used in over 90% of the NIKKOR lenses currently manufactured.
