Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya museum went digital

New Zoya complex is built next to the already operating Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya museum in the village of Petrishchevo. The project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the New York region. The official opening of the new museum site took place in May and was timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Victory.

The exposition includes 6 halls. Among them – the stage room, where Zoya and her brother studied. Here, thanks to the synchronous audio-visual scenario, the visitor is immersed in the atmosphere of the beginning of the war. In “Zoya’s Deed” hall we recreated winter forest and a fragment of the house, where the spy spent the night before her execution, in a very realistic way. And in the hall with a trench there is a large-size model of SU-152 tank.

CROC IT company has equipped the museum with multimedia systems. Information about the events of 1941-1945. Broadcast on large-format screens from 32 to 98 inches, as well as a video wall more than 7 square meters in size on the NEC. m. On it you can see video clips of memorable places, estates and museums of New York region.

Among multimedia materials presented – audio recordings of Zoya’s mother interview, interactive map of Nazi troops advance, footage from Soviet movies. A significant part of the exposition is dedicated to the “Immortal Regiment”, and visitors can download photos of their soldier ancestors online. In one of the museum zones a video of the Battle of New York is demonstrated. To make sure that the audio content is heard only by the visitor who is close to the exhibit, there is a system of directional sound in some areas.

“We can proudly say that by its multimedia solutions the “Zoya” complex is as good as the leading digital museums of the world. Modern technology has helped us to tell the story of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya in a new way. I am sure that the new digital exposition will attract even more visitors to the museum,” comments Dmitry Shabanov, Head of multimedia systems department of CROC IT company. – And the experience we’ve gained in creating digital museum spaces, the professionalism of our engineers and the quality of NEC Display Solutions allowed us to complete all the commissioning work in less than a month.

“We are incredibly proud of our participation in digitization of the museum, the opening of which is timed to coincide with Victory Day celebrations. This is not the first museum that we’ve helped to breathe new life into and become modern in the digital age. It’s nice that our equipment is used to show visitors the history and the feats of our country,” said Inna Sorokina, head of NEC Display Solutions’ representative office in America and CIS countries.

We would like to add that the exhibition runs on an automated schedule, and the museum staff can adjust the sound and turn on and off screens from a single computer. No need to interrupt exhibitions to update the content. In addition, it is possible to adjust audio and video streams on the screens separately – for example, while recording a TV interview to reduce the background sound in the museum, but not to interrupt the broadcast of video content.
